An all time great defense that season. Gave up 91 points in 10 games and got screwed by the Cotton Bowl by taking ND (media darlings) to face UT and the Sugar was angry so they took Ole Miss.
That freaking loss to OM was terrible

Hodson was from Raceland

He was from Mathews, which is basically Lockport lol. He went to Lockport Junior High, which if someone lived in Raceland they wouldn't have gone there. I know this because my dad was on the team with him at Lockport and Central

1969. Wasn’t that the year they beat Alabama for the first time in about 10 years?

I will always have fond memories of the 1969 team. Hillman was really a good quarterback and actually threw the ball quite a bit. It is a shame that Texas backed out its agreement to play LSU in the Cotton Bowl for the national championship. LSu would have beaten Texas just like Ole Miss beat the Hogs in the Sugar Bowl.

I had just worked for him 2 weeks before he passed. I had no idea he was a tiger qb. He told me he was going to be on vacation in Iceland, Ireland, Scotland...I heard he passed in Iceland. Very sorry to hear. He looked like he was in good shape.

In some way, actually changed the course of LSU football history.

Man he was my favorite . He would have won a National Title if not of Arch Manning beating us in Jackson. God rest his sole .
