Serious question. Have the fans ever before had such a "hair trigger" to boo our players and coaches or leave the game early if things aren't going our way? I've been following LSU football since the Dinardo years and don't remember the fans having this "hair trigger" then. How about before Dinardo?

Absolutely not. Before Dinardo, when Hallman was here - was the absolute lowest it's ever been. The band would come marching down the hill before the game and the scene at the bottom looked about what it looks like before a basketball game. Maybe 60,000 fans would show up to the games. And in those years, women didn't care about LSU. You brought up LSU in a local establishment and people rolled their eyes or snickered as if to say, "why do you subject yourself to that." Those were definitely the dark days.

The fanbase is definitely lethargic now, but if there is such a thing as being optimistically lethargic, that would be the best way I could describe it.

But nowhere near the lowest point.

Oh really, you dip prong? I've been bleeding P&G since the day I was born, as has my hubby.

Try to avoid ignorant statements like that in the future. It'd help you avoid looking so ridiculously uninformed.

I remember during the dark days of Archer/Hallman that I literally would not know who LSU was playing and would have to find out the score and details of the most recent loss in the Sunday paper. That's how little I cared about LSU at the time. I was a huge fan during Cholly Mack/Stovall/Arnsparger. I was even in Tiger Band and some of my colleagues had to tell me to chill out during the games because I would get out of hand cheering sometimes.

(sorry about the shitty structure of that paragraph)

Worst first post ever? I don't know about that. But It is an honest question...not trying to be an A-hole. I've just never seen this from the LSU fans and was wondering if it had ever been this way before.

That's why I included it in my post. Wouldn't want you guys to misunderstand my question.

Fair enough and sorry for the sarcasm.

Yes, as others have said, things were BAD under Hallman.

Welcome aboard.

No, you're proving the old adage about how it's better to remain quiet, whether literally or virtually, than to open your mouth (or in this case, your keyboard) and remove all doubt.

There are plenty of women who are and throughout many years always have been rabid LSU fans. My experience speaks from, even as a child, a little before, and throughout the Chollie Mac era, (remember Bo R, whose plane tragically went down on a recruiting run before he ever coached a game in Tigah Stadium?), the mediocrity of the sentimental Stovall hire, the promise of Arnsbarger (who only used LSU as a stepping stone), the misfire hire of a too young Archer down on through the dreadfulness of the Hallman and DiNardo dayz of infamy.

My first date with my spouse with whom I just celebrated our 35th anniversary? My 18th birthday in Tigah Stadium. Bert Jones' coming out party, November 20, 1971, my sophomore year, LSU 28 Notre Dame 7 (and that was a consolation prize late in the game).

There were ladies aplenty cheering on LSU at every game I've ever attended in Death Valley and considering a cadre of family and friends are keeping our season tickets warm in our temporary exile, that's a considerable number of games throughout the last 30 years, the good times and the downright ugly times.

No matter what, we ARE LSU, no matter the gender, you presumptive neanderthal.

pay no attention to some of the pricks on this board. 90% of this fan base is the best in college athletics, the other 10% are worthless loser who are to retarded to think level headed.

Well, with the first title of this thread--something along the lines of "Lowest point in LSU Football History,"--yeah, that would make it a shitty post.

Since you've changed the title, it seems like you are a young guy wanting to know if it has ever been this bad with the fans.

Answer: it has been MUCH worse.

This has been kind of a screwed up season.

Started off as defending BCS champs.
First game moved to 4 pm in AUGUST;
Hurricane Gustave.
First game moved to 10am because of IKE.
Second game postponed.
No Defense.
No QB.
No home games for a month.
Five home games in a row. Hell I was even happy for the end of the season, as tailgating/going to games tends to drain one's checking account.

I have never seen fans boo like they are doing now.But ,then I have never seen two NIT-WITS like our defensive coordinators and a head coach who is in total denial as to the problems or how to solve them. The problems will not go away until he identifies them and addresses them. As he often says-IN A STRONG DAMN WAY.

This is the worst it's ever been. Many of the fans don't appear to be maturing much if at all. The internet is a big part of this. Seems rather than actually talking about the game, they try to Shock people with how outrageous their posts are. Basically who needs to be Fired. Kid drops a pass in his hands it's labeled "Bad Coaching". Idiot locks the keys in his car it's Bad Coaching".
