Who else is old enough to remember the 20,000 leagues under the sea ride at Disneyworld

I always enjoyed the ride as a kid but it had a fatal flaw. The ride

I have had the faintest memories since it closed when I was young. However, when I rode the ride a few years ago in Disneyland a wave of nostalgia rolled over me. It had been mostly redesigned but something about the sub brought me back to when I was 4.

The flaw was lack of AC

It was meh, there is still subs at Disneyland, but they are Nemo themed now. They still got Mr Toad too.

I am old enough, but the family never made it to Disney World.

25 years ago it was shut down. The area was used as for character meet and greets
Not sure how far back you would have to go when it was operable.

I enjoyed it as a kid at Disneyland, before Disneyworld was built.

Was there in ‘83 when I first went.

I’ve read where this was the most expensive ride to maintain ever. Even when adjusted for inflation

I remember it, was awesome.

I remember it well, but my favorite was Jungle Cruise. So many non-PC dad jokes from the cast members on that ride back in the day.

Was talking about this ride the other day with my wife. Can't believe my dad and mom stayed in line for 1 1/2 hours or more for me to ride that "submarine".

Remember this ride well. As a kid I was stupid enough to believe we were real deep in the water. That was until my cousin made me look up at the window and you could see the surface of the water. Still loved it though.

I had a Polaroid picture I’d taken from inside that ride about 1972 of a fake plastic floating fish tethered to a string but floating upside down.
I’d share it except Katrina floodwaters ruined the photo, thanks Obama.

Pirates of Caribbean, and Jungle Ride were better but it was still fun when I was little kid. The lack of AC became a problem as the park got more popular particularly with the Southern European crowd and others that didn’t use deodorants etc. Basically the smell was so bad many people complained and apparently there was no easy fix.
You would think that was BS but we got stuck in the non AC or AC turned off hallways in the mummy behind some non deodorant wearing people once and it was all we could do to not throw up the smell was so bad. Kids kept gagging etc, and I didn’t want to be rude to the people, etc but it was BAD. There really is no nice way to say to someone that you stink
