Long gone. Wouldn't be shocked if he took $100k.

Wouldn’t he make more than that coming back in NIL?

The “no leverage as a senior” rule isn’t exactly correct with the new CBA. Under the new CBA, players who participate in the combine, take a physical, and are drafted must receive at least 75% of the slot bonus, or be declared free agents, so it does protect seniors that participate in the combine. Obviously not all seniors are protected, but ones that blow up to where they are drafted in the first 10 rounds are not going to get stuck with peanuts if they went to the combine.

You didn’t just ask a question.

This is a sit-down with Jay and he should layout or has a pro-cons on each. Great that he was drafted but the money slot is $100K or less

That’s what you said. You sounded like every other jackass that doesn’t know what they are talking about and says, “dude should they frick themselves over to come back and play one last year for the TIGERS!”.

Then you out of the blue started talking about Tyler Herro for some unknown reason.

Either way, you were the main target of what I said, but it goes for the OP and everyone else wanting someone to pass up decent money to come back for senior year.

While true, the MLB combine is invite only. 300 invites, more high school kids than college kids are invited, and most of the college players still have eligibility left. Regardless of that rule, MLB teams can work around that to keep most of the leverage they had prior for college seniors

He was gone as soon as that last homer left his bat. That smile sealed it.

Definitely the small number of college seniors invited to the combine is the limiting factor, but I did see some seniors and grad students on the list, although not many.

I will take blame for my comment and question. I was wrong to start. I thought the slots were salary so that is on me. Now that I understand that for Baseball I probably never would have asked....All good landrywasbeast30...Let's move on...

No problem with that is the cost of living and the fact that he now has to pay for everything when he’s not playing. So while he may get a break on some things like housing, and can defer some of it over, however many years, he still has to pay taxes, and he still has to pay for everything else. He will be working doing something else in the off-season for sure.

Is the $100000 a bonus or salary?

Why not come back? The competition will be better, the travel, the living conditions and meals will also be better. The coaching and facilities to work on his hitting will be greater and I’m sure his NIL will be better. Just my opinion.
