Left Handed Pitchers

Having all these lefties is not only gives us flexibility for in game adjustments and situational moves, but our hitters will get plenty of practice against these guys.
Many teams struggled against lefties, including us. Hitters don't see as many lefties in practice or games, so they have to adjust.
Herring
Loer
Coleman
Jump
Brown
Anderson
Johnson
Have we ever had this much southpaw talent on one team? We could potentially have more LHPs than RHPs.

We hit .300 against LHP. That is not struggling.

Until Johnson lands in BR I’m not getting my hopes up. Way too many moving parts to count him on the roster right now.

RH hitter traditionally hit LHP pitching very well

I remember Johnson made a comment In the post season last year when we were struggling with pitching that stuck with me. He said something to the affect of “we’ll never be in this situation again” when talking about our lack of left handed pitching.. he wasn’t lying. Lol

This is a false narrative we actually did well against Lefties. We hit .300 against them this year. We had a few outings where we "struggled" and the pitcher happened to be Left handed but it wasn't a theme.

Jay stated that you win with left handed pitching and left handed batters so I would expect going forward we will have a lot of LHP in the bullpen.

My biggest concern with johnson is his health

Not all of those guys will play a significant role on our staff next year, but it is nice to know that we at least have them on the team.

Since Jay's Arrival the team has actually been pretty successful against LHP.

Now do right handers...
The book on LSU was they struggled against lefties.
Left handlers generally hit better against righties, but the difference at the college level is not as clear cut for right handers vs left handed pitchers. That is why left handers are in such demand. Statistically, there are more right handed hitters, so you would think that being a left handed pitcher would be a disadvantage. However, anyone who has ever played baseball knows that every left handed kid that can throw at all gets a chance to pitch...

It was way worse last year to be fair.
we definitely weren’t as good but this year we were still pretty good.
we struggled with good lefties like most teams but we smashed shitty lefties. last year we had trouble with both.

ETA: And .302 against righties in SEC play.

Its all relative. Even .300 against lefties was still lower than what we hit overall. Didnt we hit about 15 points higher against righties?
Lefties with average stuff can be very effective. None of our lefties had the stuff that Skenes, Floyd, Hurd, Shores, or Edwards had. Yet they were effective, because most batters do better against right handed pitchers.

10-15 points lower is basically negligible

Except we didn’t struggle against lefties

True. It is also true that we hit lefties better than almost everyone, but we were still better against righties.
Most teams bat higher against righties, so having more left handed pitchers is a plus.
I remember hearing how Wes Johnson moved the rubber on the mound to one side so in order to let the batters practice hitting balls coming from the same angle as a left hander would throw.

Not really. For one at bat, it is, but not over the course of a season. Our BA for the year was 15 points higher than the next best team in the SEC. We scored 110 more runs and got 250 more at bats than the runner up. Some of that was due to us playing more games.
If you consider half a run per game to be statistically insignificant, then you're right. I don't view half a run per game as insignificant.
