And that’s one of the cheaper schools in Texas. Even if you found a job that pays 70k after school, with taxes, interest, etc you will be in poverty. You boomers who got 12k a year jobs with 3k student loans and a 5k house have no idea and that’s why our country is screwed

Without a doubt, my first job was 50k had 30k in loans and paid it off in just under 2 years. Things you don’t need - Netflix, Disney plus, cable tv, basically anything other than high speed internet. You don’t need to live in uptown Dallas, midtown or the heights in Houston. Normal people actually bring their lunch to work and cook at home. All these things should are a frame of reference to same money, implement a couple and you would be surprised at how much less you spend.

$40k over 4 years isn’t doable

For a master's degree only, sure that's doable. Now let's talk about undergrad.

Thank Obama and the FAFSA loan program. Colleges and Universities correctly understood that government guaranteed student loan programs were like free money and would boost enrollments. And the elitist college administrations did what any other elitist scumbag would do when handed free money. They raised tuition and went on spending sprees.

And the root of the problem is that lowlife scumbag obama.

Scholarships are not rare. My oldest was on a full-ride academic scholarship.

My second had about 60% of his school paid for via scholarships and worked for the rest.

My third son will have his education 100% paid for when he leaves the army. His was probably the worst deal, if he walks out of the army today he is “only” 25% disabled die to service related injuries. He still soldiers on and sometimes adds to those injuries but he is loving it.

I guess the point is, there are a ton of ways to get most of college paid for if you look for them.

Because you agreed to 40k

Why do I have to pay for ppp loans and you don’t pay for student loan?

Because you and the other crybabies didn’t throw a fit for Nancy Pelosi to toss the bill. You were too busy yelling at people to wear a mask, calling HCQ horse paste, and praying to god Fauchi.

Why do I have to pay for social security for you when you don’t pay for me?

Because a democrat government that initiated Social Security said you did.

You crybabies would be an absolute hoot if something like the Vietnam Conflict draft happened again. Or a gas ration. Or 15-20 percent interest mortgages.

Now homes coast 6-7x a persons salary

The average American buys a home at 41
1980 it was 26

I worked full time and had a family and obtained 3 different degrees. No student loans. I missed a lot of the college experience but borrowing money to go to school was such a foreign concept to me but boomers think differently than the entitled classes of recent years.

I help high school kids apply for scholarships and grants to help reduce the cost of college. I have been doing this for almost 30 years and have never had a student pay full price. It requires a little work but can be done.

Then don’t take out the loan and promise to repay it. You knew the terms and conditions when you promised to repay it. It’s not the responsibility of the rest of us to pay for your obligations and poor decisions.

Simple fix. You’re welcome.

This!

Judging by these posts, it’s quite possible OP emerged from university several IQ points dumber than when they went in.

Seems like all they did learn was how to hate the other and blame every trial or challenge in their life on “society” or previous generations.

It’s almost surreal to read this and I’m actually not sure the OP is being entirely serious, but if so it’s a sad state of affairs we find ourselves in.

ETA: Continued reading, OP is obviously a troll or has a sick sense of sarcasm. Complaining about 40K in student loans but has a $1M+ mortgage??? Am I in the Twilight zone?

You don’t think someone could get by on a salary of $45k a year and save any income above that if they really wanted to?

Get a basic apartment, don’t go buy a brand new car or all kinds of pricey gadgets, cook at home instead of dining out, and don’t take expensive vacations. Even easier if you get a roommate.

Wouldn’t be hard to save $20k a year if you make $70k and knew how to budget to live modestly.

Being in oil and gas you don't meet many Aggies as liberal, gay and lazy as Hank and OP. Lord knows I give them enough hell on the SECr.

Most are loke EKG and TBird.

But there are outliers in many data sets.

A&M gives good scholarships to the members of the Corps. Then if you actually enlist, your college is paid for.

Most of the kids that get into A&M will qualify for scholarships at Alabama or Oklahoma.

I'm an Aggie, but my daughter went to Bama on a full tuition scholarship.
