I think people want to believe LSU holds some near and dear place in Nick’s heart…but even if feelers were being put out in 2006, it was likely going to be a sexton extension play.

At the end of 2006 Saban expressed interest in coming back. There was serious talk about firing Les at the end of 2006, but Skip and Weems wouldn’t allow it. In 2007 when Michigan called Les, Saban let it be known that was interested in leaving Alabama to come back. These are facts and not hypotheticals.

This is some serious copium

They weren’t going to fire a coach whose team just finished No. 3 in the country.

Look - we all know what kind of coach Nick is and how the Miles era ended, but for Skip to have sent Les packing just because Saban quit the Dolphins after 2 years would have been a classless move on Skip’s part.

You shouldn't put class and Miles on the same page.

There is not an AD in the country that would have gotten rid of Les after 2006. Les had us rolling

Also Saban wasn’t the greatest coach of all time then like he is now. You’d just be waiting for him to jump ship for another NFL gig

How did he pull a douche bag move? By taking a job to the nfl - that was always on his list of goals.
He notified lsu as soon as he decided?
What was the issue?
This was almost 20 years ago- what does it matter?

I surmise your “facts “ are really more stupid rumors created by people that know nothing but crave attention

The talent we had during the Les years should have seen several NC's but he screwed it up.

Skip wouldn’t have had to dig very deep to fire Les for cause.

Let’s remember what was going on then….. 2005 Les first year he goes 10-2 with hurricane Katrina. If you’re not old enough or local to know how that affected all players and students for that matter including fans. My parents live 5 hours north and had no power for weeks.
2006 Les again goes 10-2 beats Notre Dame in the sugar bowl.
2007 wins a title.

So, if you had a time
Machine and could go back to the day or days leading up to Saban parting ways with the Dolphins and again KNOWING WHAT YOU KNOW NOW, you wouldn’t take him over any other coach in the same period?

Which coach would you prefer from 2007 to now? Whose been better?

Skips choices as AD were piss poor.

1. Smoke replacing him
2. Building the new box cheap and shitty
3. Hiring clown miles
4. Letting Pat Henry walk
5. Not having Miles walk to Michigan in 07

Skip could not afford Saban by then. Alabama had the big bucks.

i agree. He and (The Team) won a NC but He only participated in one other NC game while at LSU.

the worst coaching by a head coach that an LSU football team ever participated in.
and Les Miles never won another game against Saban, ever.

So you're the guy... I knew there was a fan somewhere... Funny. I like major college sports. That that Southland Conference schedule is a killer, though.
