Not sure what you are reading, but Shammit is saying the exact opposite, by sending out more salary than taking it.

Hate that proposal by Dua. Allen's stats don't look that great and he is on a high salary for production, IMO. I want to see what Hawkins can do, unless there is a much better return.

I’ll be suprised if Hawkins has a more productive career than Allen.

Allen is costly at $20 million a year for 3 years. The way Robinson abused him in the playoffs, I would think the Cavs would be happy to trade him for a reasonable price. Not sure the Pels should invest that much $$$ in the 5.

I Wonder If Mitch Rob is available at all

Little better contract than Allen. He’s pretty damn good at times. Although, he kind of got in Thibs doghouse during the Miami series and they were playing Hartenstein over him to close sometimes. He also has a bit of the injury bug.

Would New York be willing to take Jonas expiring deal straight up for 3yr of Mitch Rob so they can clear space for next year’s free agency or trade market? Would we have to add a 2nd rd pick? A very protected 1st?

The rumor is Embiid is interested in being a Knick so they could be motivated to clear a little future cap space with that in mind.

Robinson can’t shoot free throws and provides next to nothing offensively. If they’re down and need offense, Hartenstein plays.

I mentioned trading for him a few months back as one of the 5's we should go after. He's a hometown guy, reasonable price, rebounds and gets blocks, and doesn't need the ball on offense.

Free throw shooting is a concern, but we don’t need offense from our 5. Being 1st in the league in offensive rebound % is more than enough offense.
Plus he’s ann actual rim protector.

To be clear, we only have to FINISH the season under luxury tax cap to avoid paying it, right? We could dump salary at the trade deadline after we see what it is what with the team and whether it might make sense to start paying the tax...

Not sure if it kicks in this year, but I think with the new cba if you start the year over or go over at any point, you are a tax team.

Correct, end of season

That's why it really doesn't make sense to, say, add an asset to get off of Kira now. If you really can't get rid of him, go over the tax into the season. By the deadline if we stink again, then you can still make that original bad deal and potentially get a better deal. If you're really good, then that could be the year our cheap owner allows us to go into the tax so you don't have to use an asset to move him.

I'm definitely not 100% on this, but I think that is the salary floor rule. When the new CBA kicks in, you have to hit the salary floor by opening day, so you can't do like the Pacers did and just throw more money at Myles Turner.

But I think the tax line figure will not be a day 1 figure.
