Bay St. Louis fishing

Recently purchased a camp in BSL and am having a tough time finding fish. I'm no expert at salt water fishing, so I'm sure that has plenty to do with it, but I'm trying to learn. Can anyone point me in the right direction for this time of year? Places to go and how you're catching. I have a 22ft CC, so can get a decent ways out on the right day. I appreciate any and all advice.

There's a guy in the LAFB elite group that hammers them. I would join there and see if he would help you. I've seen him helping others. I assume he's going into the east Biloxi marsh.

Cat island. Fish all the way around the island an in the cuts. It can get a little shallow in places so trim up. I've never been skunked there. Then jump to Oyster Bay on Louisiana side. Easy transition over, less than 7 miles west.

Every once in a while you can get on some fish inside the bay/river but most people who fish out of BSL fish out front whether it be Cat Island, Bayou Caddy, Biloxi Marsh, Lake Borgne, etc
There are some baws (and a few posters) who have mastered the bay and can smoke them but you aren't going to luck your way into fish like Louisiana
If you are just trying to make the kids happy go drown some shrimp at the bridges. If you are looking for limits start learning some of the spots out front.
edit: pay very close attention to water depth when learning new areas. Whether it be Cat or Biloxi Marsh it can go from feet to inches with the quickness. 100% need to be a sea tow member and have a way to communicate with land as you will not have cell service

Have been hammering em all summer out of BSL. All the trout you can imagine along with some flounder at Freemason right now. It’s a 50 mile run out of BSL but well worth it.

I’ve been catching trout at Pass Marianne, grass flats at Cat Island, Gene Taylor reef, the end of the Waveland pier, the rocks around the silos in Gulfport, and a few on the bridges in the bay. We’ve been having luck with live croakers and I almost exclusively fish plastic. You can get live bait at Bay Marina, Pass Christian harbor and Long Beach harbor. Look up Carl Vidrine on YouTube. He frequently posts videos of he and his wife catching trout and it’s not hard to tell where he’s fishing.

The Bay and near shore reefs can be really good when the trout are transitioning out and the water's good. They'll be holding fish almost all the time, regardless, but not at those numbers. MDWFP has a list of nearshore reefs on their site. There's more than you think.
Cat is hit or miss, just have to bounce around until you find them. Great place to fish any time though.

Yep, went there a couple of weeks ago on a Sat morning and counted 27 other boats.

This is sage advice. Research it. Consider the very real scenario of being out at one of the islands and having engine trouble with winds and summer storms.

Any decent kayak fishing around bayou LaCroix close to the Jourdan? Looking at a place there now.
