To answer your original question though, it definitely worked. I'm sure when i lost the brush it was because i'm a dumbass. With a straight run you may not have any of the problems i had. My issues were mostly because it was the old flex tube, too many turns and stepped on in areas from previous owners...it was a mess.

Sounds like it.
Pretty sure (more assumption than anything else) is that the 25-30' of straight vent is rigid, not flex so it could be easy peasy.
