As humiliating as that was, part of me likes it

24-4 is the same as 5-4. Tomorrow starts over at 0-0 either way. But I am super curious to see how we respond. Jay’s a good Xs and Os guy, but I think he’s better psychologically. Can he put together the right combination of words and do we buy into them? Nothing that happened today, yesterday, this week, this month, this season, or our guys’ entire careers matters. Doesn’t matter one single, teency wincy, little, ittle bitty bit. Not one. Zero. All that matters is what happens starting at 6 pm tomorrow night. Can Jay say the right words and do our guys have the ability to flush it? One game and clear.

If they are special—and they think they’re special—WE think they’re sprcial—can they take a 24-4 arse whipping and put it behind them and go win the fricking national Championship the next day? THAT would be special. Momentum is only as good as the next day’s starting pitcher as they say.

And if we do win it—and I absolutely believe we can—nobody will remember these guys who did their part. After it got 8-3, Jay punted and Collins, Money, Little, and Dutton went out there and wore it and ate some embarrassing innings. But it saved our best arms and gave us the best chance to PHYSICALLY win tomorrow. Are we tough enough to flush it and be ready to MENTALLY win it as well? I, for one, think we are. And I can’t wait to see how it plays out. If we do find a way to do the damn deal, it will be the hardest earned championship in program history. And I’m motherfricking here for it.
