Cities: Skylines 2 in late October

Between this and football season, I fear my free time will be over. Can't believe it's already been 8 years since the first one released, and can't imagine how good this one is going to look.

It looks fantanstic, and if they make traffic management easier, I'll be excited to play. There never seems to be a good way to handle traffic in the end.

I'm awaiting the Life By You early access in September.

Never heard of this until now. Glad someone is challenging Sims / Simcity finally.

Are there any mods that usually deal with this? I used to have the same issue playing SimCity games way back in the day.
I love games like this but have never played Cities: Skylines. I've watched a few videos on youtube from a guy named City Planner that seems to be really good at putting out tutorial videos.

PC has a lot of mods that seem to make it a breeze. It seems like with the PS5 update that came out earlier this year there were some traffic management tools as well that I didn't recognize from before.

Reviews seem disappointing, almost all say 1 is better. Lot of steps back.

You will design a walkable and public transport utopia and you will like it!

Sad. How in the world could they screw it up. Just take the same game, add in the quality of life mods people liked the most as standard, update the graphics and expand the number of buildings and zone types, create some more maps, and make millions.

Looks like it'll be one of those games I pick up in a year or two on sale and after it's fixed or modders get some good mods.

Most of the complaints are features, systems, or assets that are in One but missing in Two. To be fair, DLC is kind of CO'S business model. I get the complaints, but expecting everything from One to be in Two at the start was a bad expectation to begin with.
That being said, there are a few basic things that are missing that really should be there. Bike paths for one. There are no bicycles in CS2. I get they may want to save pedestrian transit for a DLC, but it is absurd to not have basic bike paths as a shoulder add on at launch. Another is the inability to set connecting road segments to be a single road and prioritize it. That's ridiculous.
That being said I'll probably put 10 or 12 hours into it tomorrow.

I didn't realize until today that this was on gamepass, so I guess I'll try it sooner rather than later.

I played another 4 or so hours today and got my first city to 150k pop. Honestly the performance issues are grossly overblown. I have just a medium quality system (5800x3D processor, RTX3070Ti gpu, 32 gigs ram, 2gig Samsung 990Pro NVME) and am sitting around 45fps on a mix of medium and high graphics settings at 1440p. I disabled the things CO suggested and the game still looks great and is more than smooth enough for a Sim.
People are just shitting all over themselves because they can't cap the 60fps on max settings at 4k res.

I got a few hours in last night. Did the tutorial and made an ugly city to get the basics down. I also have a mid-range pc, and it did fine. I don't care about 60 fps on a game like this. As long as it's over 30, I'm good.
I will say the critiques on land elevations and buildings are legit. It's kind of silly the game can't adjust for things better. For example, let's say I do a cemetery or landfill. There is no reason something like that has to be totally flat. Real life land planning and construction can take into account topography. This game can't.

I got my first city to the point I was ready to start a new one and I'm paying a lot closer attention to the numbers and the complaints about the economy Sim being relatively non-existant are real. Import/export, industry output to commercial demands, and outside linked cargo lines are all essentially irrelevant.
It's gotta be bugs. If they are gonna wait till Industries DLC to introduce economic simulation to the game, it's gonna tank before then.
