People conveniently forget that Patrick Mahomes played 3-4 years of college football on average power 5 football team and maxed out at about 8 wins.
He is extremely Kelce and Reid dependent. He’d be better than he was back then, but he’d need to have a top coach and talent around him.

Texas Tech with Kingsbury coaching, the ghost of Mike Leach looking in on OC meetings

Funny how this narrative has changed. Last year after the Chiefs traded Hill many said the Chiefs were no longer a SB threat. Reid didn't win a SB in Philly and didn't in KC until he had Mahomes. I wonder why the Chiefs didn't do much with Alex Smith and he had Reid, Hill and Kelce.

Mahomes got drafted to a 12 win team w Andy Reid, bud. Any decent QB would have a ring or 2 by now after 6 years.
With help of the refs, Chris Jones won yall the AFC Ship last year, Not Mahomes. So y’all better pay that man. He’s the best player on your team.

I actually love this..still crying months later about the refs.

I mean, when there is 4 matchups between the teams and the only one the Chiefs won was universally agreed to be marred by officiating, it’s fair to mention.
The Chiefs were favored in all 4 matchups as well. And acted like Mahomes got over some kind of hump and proved something with 1 win out of 4.
Fact is. Burrow objectively outperformed Mahomes in that game too. Chiefs just won the refs and trenches battle.

He was with Texas Tech and they still sucked.

he has admitted to not being able to read defenses when he was in college. It is safe to say he would be much better now after reading much more complex NFL systems.
ok so what...he throws for 5700 yards???
guess what...still wouldnt win him many games if rest of the team is dog shite. sorry, its how it works in college.

"objectively"

Mizzou, and that would be a major feat considering Mizzou was founded over 150 years ago and still hasn't won a football natty.

Yeah, but the talent around him might not be able to do the same thing
This was going to be my exact argument saying that the team is going to be better than a lot of people expect. Just because he can execute perfectly by reading the defense perfectly doesn't mean his receivers will

We already have sample size of that - he was on a mediocre team at Texas Tech when he was damn good
Had some nice plays and numbers against an above average LSU team but TT still lost by a good bit
Mahomes now probably wouldn't have that much more of an impact

What a remarkably stupid post

This thread has really opened eyes on how stupiud some people are on stuff like this. I'm guessing many people in here think a college team could beat a lousy NFL team some years.
How many ELITE QBs are in college FB each year? At least a couple right? I mean Bryce Young, CJ Stroud, and Caleb williams were all really really frickign good QBs this last year. None of them even played int eh title game, because football is about 23 dudes playing against each other not just 1. Now obviously Mahomes would clearly be the best QB in cfb by a long shot, nobody is debating that at all. But some of yall are throwing around app state? Kansas? The dude woudl be absolutley running for his life every snap, consiering he still has that team's normal OL. Who si he throwing to? Is he thorwing to travis kelce and tyreek hill or is he throwing to some 5'9" 3 stars whose best offers were from kansas? Is his defense going to surrender 35 points a game on average?
Mahomes would make some spectacular throws that a lot of other QBs in college couldn't make, but it's laughable to suggest taht you coudl stick him on some .500 team in a shite conference and he's automatically win it all.

Team needs to have a defense. You can’t win with app state who had multiple 60-60 type games. I say Iowa.

Odds are 50% of them will suck in the NFL

Jesus Christ himself could've come down and played QB and there still would be zero chance for OU to be even close. Thinking Mahomes would've made a difference in the outcome is an insult the game plan Aranda had and the defensive players who executed it.
You don’t think putting the NFL mvp on a playoff team is going to make difference? OU had plenty of talent for him to work with, he’d shred that defense
I am as big of an lsu homer as you’ll find but come on

which is 100% irrelevant to this topic. We aren't talking abotu the NFL. How many throws per game is mahomes going to make that young or Stroud couldn't?

It’s perfectly relevant because they all can make the throws but they largely wash out cause they can’t pick up the mental aspect. Hurts is good comparison cause he unquestionably improved a ton to make it in the NFL.
Granted App Is a hot take but I am trying to find the worst not the obvious answer like Iowa.
