seems as if, yes they have a date.

they've pushed back quite a bit to clear up bugs and got snagged by the certification process here recently, but they've been transparent about it all, which most seem to appreciate. it's a nice change in comparison.

yeah. it’s getting frustrating. particularly because there isn’t shite to play right now. but i still believe they will deliver a great product tho.

not i. hit lvl 18 in the beta last week. just didn’t generate a lot of interest here, so didn’t bump the thread. this year’s beta was a network stress test.

summary: game play is still fantastic, no SBMM, level design is great, fun balance needs more work, spawns were good, but hit detection was hit or miss depending on your server connection, but that’s exactly what they were testing. when it releases i’ll definitely be splitting my time between COD and XDefiant, hoping that XDefient is my 6v6 FPS main until COD ditches SBMM.

don’t worry, you can go back to daddy COD. no one will notice.

i never said it would fail. i was genuinely curious if everyone was still anticipating this game or gave up on it since it's been months since anyone brought it up.

XDefianty Launched yesterday
(Tuesday, May 21st).

I’ll give this a bump in hope to put in a few people’s radars at least.

also, you may or may not have seen Mark Rubin’s (ex COD Dev / Lead XDefiant Dev) take on SBMM.

worth the read. this stance on SBMM is why I genuinely want XDefiant to be successful. And so should all do you! SBMM in COD needs to be significantly toned down and Activision needs to know they need to actually start listening to the fanbase. A successful XDefiant is good for everyone in the COD Community.

Honest Review with 5-7 hours of playtime.

Server launch wasn't great on Tuesday. First 4 hours of matchmaking was inconsistent. Nothing we haven't seen with every COD ever I suppose. But by 4PM CST it was resolved. I still think the net code / hit detection is slightly off. Still instances of me being killed around corners. And there are definitely some games where I feel like i'm shooting marshemellows while my opponents are double tapping me. On Tuesday this was very evident and frustrating in most matches. Yesterday, the net code felt a lot more consistent match to match. Sounds like they are still tinkering with this. (And this isn't a 'your connection sux bro. get good' issue. I'm on fiber in Houston. 1500 down / 500 up. And i usually have a 7-9 second ping on COD servers. I'm the guy who hosts lobbies in COD).

Secondly, before my Pro's and Con's. I had to do some serious tinkering with the gameplay and controller settings. I'll warn you. This game has very minimal aim assist and headshots are KING in XDefiant. Body shot multipliers are non existent. Arm, leg, neck, torso....it's all a body shot regardless of location. So to win gun battles consistently: you need to get headshots. This led me to use more accurate weapons, with less thump (example: ACR > AK) and I had to learn to slow down a bit. Generally I turn up the sensitivy in FPS. Don't make that mistake. You actually will likely need to lower it (50 is preset)

PRO's:
- No SBMM. The whole selling point. Matches definitely felt varied talent wise. Some almost bot level opponents. Some super sweats. Mostly casuals. But I never once felt like if i had 1 good match, the next match I was about to get absolutely wrecked by YouTube stars. Also never felt like within the first 30 seconds of a match we all knew the outcome. I led a massive comeback with a team yesteday in Hardpoint that was a blast. The team balancing also seemed very fair.
- Matchmaking overall: Full lobbies. And only got put into an In Progress match once since Tuesday.
- I dig the 3 lane maps. Not a ton of verticality. Not a ton of shitty head glitch spots. No major open lanes being dominated by snipers only. A good mix of short range engagement areas, medium range engagement areas, and a few long range engagements areas. And there weren't any objective locations that felt overpowered if your team owned them. The maps all had that old school COD 3 lane map feel to them.
- Spawn Points on Day 1 were better than any COD I've ever played. Not once was there an aggregious shite spawn. There was very little spawn trapping, but also I didn't feel like people were spawning behind me when I just killed them.
- Microtransactions are cosmetic only. Nothing weird like in COD. Which I'm fine with. (COD has gone off base with the weird shite in MW3)
- Small install size. Doesn't take up half your hard drive like COD.

CON's:
- I'm not quite sold on the faction abilites over killstreaks. The abilities aren't game breaking (Echelon and Phantoms are the superior factions tho). I think they need to tinker with the cool down of the faction abilities. BUT.....i think overall I'd prefer you to earn the abilities instead of just wait for the time to reset. Which kind of leads me to the my point that I think I just prefer killstreaks. It adds an excitement to the game, something to strive for, and something you earn that benefits your team.
- No TDM? No Free for All? We needs these game types. Not everyone wants to play objective only game types. (personally I love objective game types)
- Again, net code hit detection still needs a bit of work. I think it'll get there tho.
- The absolute fricking GRIND to unlock attachments and level up guns. BRUHHHHH. Seriously, 5-7 hours of playtime. I might have 10 total attachments unlocked. I understand the attachment unlocks are tied to the level weaponing system which is tied to their camo system. They've got to tone that down a bit. Cut it in half.

Guns I'm loving so far: ACR (KING), M4A1, MDR, MP7, P90, and M249. Haven't spent much time with the snipers or marksmen rifles until I adjust to speed and lack of aim assist in this game. I'll warn you. Shotguns and for the most part LMGs SUUUUCK. Very very niche situationally.

Overall: I'm happy with it. Definitely a nice change of pace. I'm certainly itching to jump back in, play some more, try new weapons, and get some unlocks. Also, excited to see what they continue to tweak and add in. Hoping Ubisoft doesn't Ubisoft by killing it because they aren't happy with Day 1 player counts.

hoping some of you have at least downloaded it by now. give it a try. it's free to play after all.

Agreed. SBMM destroyed COD. It created the META only guns, which is their cash cow, so you either grind the latest update or buy the pack to be able to survive.

Casual players just want to decompress for an hour or two after work, but that's impossible because everyone in the lobby is your skill or better. Gone are the days of messing around with a goofy loadout. No one actually wants to run the best gun 24/7 (if they aren't insanely broken)

You don't get better playing against your own skill level. You improve by getting wrecked and watching the kill cam's to learn "how did I lose that?" "How did they get up there?"

I don't understand how a quasi-hero shooter based on dead Ubisoft franchises and Far Cry is going to be successful long term.
