Episode 9 - Strange New Worlds the musical just dropped….
I’ll say that overall, I appreciate the creativity at least. The music almost got to the point in about the third song where I thought “I’m Turning this off” but then they paced it much better….
Just some random thoughts on the episode-
(Spoilers to follow….)
Thank goodness Luan pointed out the singing was a “security risk”!
Kirk was on the episode, and we found out that he and Carol Marcus were dating and she’s pregnant…kinda shut off the Luan situation
The Spock - Chapel relationship came to a conclusion that fits well with the canon. Since they’d already made Spock human in the episode where they first hooked up, I’m guessing the musical episode was primarily concocted so that he could express his emotions on the matter.
Chapel got a fellowship to work with her future fiancé Dr Roger Korby. M’Benga described him as “the
Pasteur of archaeological medicine", which were the exact words used by Spock in the TOS episode “what little girls are made of”.
The Klingons singing boy band style was hilarious.
I thought it was a nice touch ending the musical number by going into the tv series theme.
A little disappointed that this was the second to last episode of the season. I’d like to see a few more episodes where pike, Spock and Luan beam down to a plantet full of ninjas and samurai,
Or where cats keep people as pets or find everyone that went into the Bermuda Triangle or something.

La’an has a great voice if that’s really her.

I went in to this Ep having no idea what to expect and it was damn fun. They injected the right amount of serious dialogue to balance the music out and I'll be damned if it didn't work well.
They did a nice job or connecting Roger Corby and Carol Marcus to the canon.
I took a look at the trailer for next weeks season finale and it's going to be serious with an undoubtedly cliffhanger.
