Kendall interpreted the rule wrong. Higher seed is #4 on the list of importance.

Well shite.

So #4 would never come in to play in the regionals.

It came in to play for the LSU/Oregon State game today

But, yeah, LSU will be the away team in their following game win or lose this afternoon

I’m frustrated and idc if the rule has been around since 1908, I’m asking for an explanation cause no other level treats home teams like this

High school athletics have always followed a similar model. It’s not just the NCAA.

“Why is the better seed having to travel?”

Because the team that has been “home least” gets the home game.

Wrong

The NCAA announced that the home team in every level of the postseason will now be the higher-seeded team

WRONG

This is my question too. Florida/UK and their opponents had both been home team the first game. So why didn’t the high seed rule apply?

Florida played #3 Texas Tech yesterday. Texas Tech was the visitor in their first game. Same with Kentucky. They played #3 Indiana, who was the visitor in their first game.

Why do you think this? It is in effect at 2:00 today in BR.

LSU isn't the "home" team so to speak.

Coin flip after R1 if both teams have been home team equally. So - coin flip for today.

Wrong. It goes to the higher seed if we've both been home the same # of games. We are home then will be away next time we play
If god forbid this thing goes to game 7 we should be home again (if facing the beavs)

So 2 out of 3 games vs OSU and 3 out of 4 in the whole regional we would have been home team. Not too bad and not worth all the hand wringing IMO

Gotcha. My mistake. I just assumed those two were 2 seeds.

So IF:

- Both teams have been the home team an equal number of times during the regional, AND
- Both teams have been the visitor an equal number of times during the regional, AND
- The teams have not played each other yet in the regional, AND
- Both teams had the same designation in their previous regional games (either both home or both visitors)

… then it’s decided by seed?

So if I’m not mistaken it only applies in round 2 games where you had chalk in round 1 (#1 and 2 in winner’s bracket, #3 and 4 in loser’s bracket). Beyond that, I’m pretty sure you’re guaranteed to have an uneven number of games played (i.e. first game of winners bracket vs. losers bracket) and/or a rematch (i.e. a winner-take-all final game).

I’m trying to figure out how the hell it can possibly go to a coin toss after that. I guess if someone forfeits or something?
