The man says this
And your response is
Wtf dude? It's like threads with a tragedy as the op just bring out some of the most bizarre posts. Local tragedies somehow being a beacon for it.

I’d rather not tbh as I lost some close friends during that event. There’s been plenty of books written about it by others who chose to express what it was like for them. It’s not something I’ll ever forget but it’s not something I like to talk about much.
And your response is
quote:
If you don’t start one I can make a thread and describe it and request you to come tell your story if that’s easier for you.
If you don’t make one by Sunday I can knock it out for you next Monday no problem

I cant imagine being a family member or friend during this time. On top of this tragic event, you now have every internet sleuth and click-bait site breaking down a grainy 20 second clip theorizing what happened and choosing the most sensational option out there.

What’s more salacious?
A) getting killed by a shark after 5-8 seconds of sheer terror
B) drifting away in pitch black dark at night in the ocean and treading water for 45 minutes to an hour while losing hope of being rescued

You guys should read the comments on Reddit. They are not very nice about this young man

For clicks and driving internet traffic.......easily (A)

No. He is posting more stupid shite in the Elizabeth Hurley thread.

90% of reddit are people that see anyone with a remote resemblance of success and completely shite on them, even if its kids whose parents appear to have more than $100 in their bank account.
Reddit is an extremely poor representation of actual people

After reading 40 pages of back and forth arguing - I finally decided to watch the video.
The most surprising aspect of it was how calm he was treading water next to the ship. It does not look like the boat is moving fast at all. It probably was not and that is why (in his inebriated state) he thought he could jump and swim back onto the boat.
I don’t think a strong current or a big wave took him away. I think it was a shark OR he was so confused once in the water, he swam away.

Just google "Fastnet race" and the 1979 edition will immediately come up. That's what I did.

The thing circled in that picture is a wave.

Such soft hypocrites some people are.

At night you wouldn't see the full outline of a shark that's submerged unless you had a bright light pointed directly at it, but you would see the whitewater from a wave that's breaking. Not to mention, sharks are dark on top, which that little blip is not.

Has anyone actually 100% confirmed he was intoxicated? Kids especially recent HS graduates on a senior trip do stupid shite sober. Especially when dared. I have yet to see anything reported he was for sure intoxicated by friends he was with?
