I think that kid has a chance to get drafted pretty high.

We will go heavy with pitchers. We're already active there with uncommitted high school kids, juco guys, etc. I jokingly say Jay will have 40 pitchers here in the fall, but I really think he's going to exhaust the pitching side of things. We need some immediate experience on the mound. And, I believe we'll also be very active with infielders. I like our incoming class of infielders but a few are sneaking up the draft board. Jay will also not be caught by surprise with infielders. Next year might be primarily transfer heavy team, still a lineup with White and Jones and hopefully Kling and Pearson. We get some juice back on the mound in 2025.

What about the highly rated freshman that made it to campus last year that never made it to the mound? Will they not be in the running for the rotation?

Our starting shortstop is coming from ASU

First you must determine the departures and sort through the injuries, and how they handle those roster spots.
Crews & Skenes are obviously gone
I think Dugas is officially the only one you lose to graduation
On draft watch
Jordan Thompson
Tre Morgan
Ty Floyd
Draft wild cards
Travinski
Edwards
little
Jobert
There are 5-6 freshmen that didn’t play at all. Transfers like Nippolt and Merrified who haven’t played and I’m not sure fit into future.
You have a lot of OF’er and very poor infield depth

Nippolt nor Merrifield will be back next year in my opinion.
There is going to be heavy portal influx on the middle infield.

Lots of good info coming in this thread, thanks.
I guess I'm getting downvoted into oblivion because of the timing of this, but I think it's an important question; and I'm curious who to watch in the postseason.
I wonder about some of the guys on the 3 and 4 seed teams, the smaller schools. I figure some have been putting up good stats but against weaker competition, would like to see how they do in regionals.
And the host regionals will be a good recruiting opportunity (unofficially); there are going to be a couple guys who want to play here full-time, if they get the chance.

Nichols State freshman SP Jacob Mayers
-- Southland Freshman of the Year
-- All-Southland First Team (Starting Pitcher)
-- College Baseball Foundation Pitcher of the Year Semifinalist
If he doesnt go the JUCO>MLB route he will be pitching somewhere in the SEC next year. Might as well bring him home (from St. Amant)

The Atlantic Sun Freshman of the year is a LHP that was drafted out of HS and threw 80+ innings for Jacksonville this season. Friday guy as a freshman.

Not happening! He likes Nicholls! Not this year at least! I know family and friends! He was cut as a High School Freshman! LOL

Nippolt
I think Nippolt will be here next year. Unless he graduates before next season he would have to either sit out a year or drop down a level.

I don’t think this time last year anyone thought Tommy White would be in the transfer portal so we really don’t know until the portal opens who to look at.

If he likes Nicholls so much he should probably stop telling teammates that he’s leaving after this season…. He won’t be back at Nicholls next year

We don’t need Iowa pitcher He walks batters and is wild Not a good fit
What do you mean not a good fit? Sounds like he’d fit in perfectly.

Mayers needs to clean up the free passes. We don't need pitchers who can't throw strikes
