Critics are wrong. Again.

The critic score kept going up all week. It started low after its debut at Cannes, but the more mainstream critics have been, if not all embracing it, at least enjoying it.

Your argument should be with the people like the ones in this thread who've made up their minds about what this movie is, based on what uniformed people told them to think, before ever seeing it.

Yeah, so many people on this board make up their mind before seeing something. I read nothing about it, had no idea what it was about, and liked it quite a bit.

The latest projections from Deadline show that the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny box office is severely underperforming. Before its premiere, the movie's domestic opening weekend was projected to land somewhere between $60 million and $80 million. However, the updated numbers show it scraping $60 million, with one source even estimating $55 million, the opening weekend number that tanked the $200 million The Flash earlier in June.

Thats what happens when you let a company like Disney and someone like Kathleen Kennedy run things. People automatically know that they are in for not just a fun adventure movie, but some level of preaching about how “white America bad”. People are tired of it.

None of that happened. It was a good movie. Enjoyed it. It was fun.

What movie has come out from either Disney or Lucasfilm that preaches that?

America doesn’t even exist or isn’t relevant in most of these movies outside of Marvel and Indiana Jones.

I wasn’t excited to see it because I love Indiana Jones movies so much, but I’ve only heard good things about it so far so I may go catch a screening this week.

the horror

One throw-away line in a nearly 3-hour movie has you upset. Reminds me of when Catwoman said “privilege” in The Batman and all discussion about the movie had to cease because snowflakes were crying about it in every thread.

I pretty much only attend movies based on the recommendations of PPL from this board that have actually seen the movie.

I wasn't planning on seeing the film because the trailers and the haters made me apprehensive but after positive comments from ppl here I took the family and we enjoyed it. It wasn't perfect but it was a good flick.

I *might* have recommended this movie if it wasn't for PWB being the Jar Jar of the film along with her teenage, Short Round wannabe assistant. The third act is also super stupid and the film just seems to end abruptly.

Also...the general audience isn't liking this as much as the board is as the CinemaScore it got was a middling B+. I know a lot of people see that score and thing "good movie" but studios don't want blockbuster releases to get anything below an A- CinemaScore because that typically hurts word of mouth.

Stories matter because they teach people how and what to think. That’s why we tell them. One of the reasons America is so screwed up is that we consume media that teaches us to hate and reject who we were. Hollywood has always been this way, there was a strong anti American current from the start, but it’s become almost all they push. Phoebe Waller Bridge seems to gravitate to the worst of this shite.

No doubt this is what modern Hollywood believes. It used to be that they'd sprinkle some of their own morality within the larger narrative. A line here, a look or a nod there. But that was it, then back to the actual focus of the movie/show. Now? The Message is about as subtle as a 300 lb tranny twerking in the face of your toddler.

And you'd better applaud, or you're the problem! Bigots.

It’s actually the opposite. The general audience is liking this movie MORE than this board is.

Verified audience rating is 88%

There’s something fishy about that score. I could buy 70 and even close to 80. But near 90 smells like bullshite.

Tapestries
