I have my eye on Boerne but its going to go progressive sooner or later.

At this point I am thinking a double-wide with a massive climate-controlled garage is the way to go out there in a remote area.

OK, this one deserves a good explanation between the water system problems and the lack of garbage pickup.

and seemingly year-round red tide .

This has not been the case the past 3 years. I get out about 2 days a week and the red tide is a little over blown. It was around AMI about two months this year and maybe 6 weeks last year. It moved up and down the coast but honestly, it was a January-February issue

Every since the winds started coming out of the east back in early March, its been gone completely

There are so many head scratchers on this list I almost have to dismiss the entire rankings system as flawed.

I always take lists with a grain of salt. Because, the methodology can be skewed. I remember when Louisiana had 5 or 6 metros in the top 10 as the happiest places in the US. Laffy was number 1 and Houma was number 2, if I recall.

Good to know.. i was keeping tabs on it a couple yrs back as i was eyeing a potential move back to the area.. but if you cant even go to the beach due to thousands of washed up dead fish and toxic water- then what’s the point of living near some of the most beautiful beaches in America ?? If it’s only a couple months a year, i could handle that.. back when i lived there, red tide would only occur for a week or two out of the year, and it wasnt even every year .. but again, it was more of a small town .

I was surprised to see Buffalo at 27. I loved my visit there a decade ago, but I have a weird fascination with old cities past their prime (I.e. Detroit, Cleveland).

I was surprised to see my home of Corpus Christi so low. It’s not fantastic, but I’m not sure how metrics would have it lower than BR, Beaumont, or Shreveport…or Youngstown.

No way Biloxi is lower than Jackson even if just by one. Absolutely no way! And don’t hyphenate Biloxi with Gulfport. They are not the same.

These lists are made by people that have never been to most of them. Jackson probably scores high for cheap real estate or something like that.

I was just in Bentonville- Rogers a few weeks back, pretty much butt up to Fayetteville. I challenge you to find a better set of cities in the south.

Charlotte checking in since 2001. Continues to grow, swallowed the blue bill years ago. Great city to live and raise a family if you can pay for private school.
