Also it was weird that he cut her helmet feed so abruptly. What's the point in that?

The author said it's simply a case of the signal only goes so far before it's lost. That area is somewhere around the top of the hill.

The tape is faulty on purpose. The point is they die before they get too far. They get euphoric at seeing colors and a landscape they literally couldn't imagine a minute before. Then they clean to show everyone before dying a minute later.

I would think they could use better tape and send a cleaning crew out periodically versus the whole game with the outcasts. Unless the air is so toxic they can't be decontaminated enough to reenter the silo.

At the end of the day we know that outside is bad and will kill you. My guess is all of the hoopla and mythology is something that evolved over time as the best way to control 10K people and keep the silo safe. We know they've been down there at least 140 years since the rebellion. No idea how long it was between the earth dying and the (last?) rebellion.

If they are trying to send the person to their certain death - why put them in a suit at all? Why not send them out in their regular clothes and then all would see that you die quickly if you leave the silo and that alone should limit the interest in wanting to leave.

Just finished it last night. Can’t wait for season 2.

I haven’t read this whole thread but a couple things

1. Does Bernard know there are other silos? Do they communicate with other silo leaders?

2. In the final shot there seemed to be a ton of silos. I wonder how many are still thriving and how many died out.
