Couple of things (Ep 10 Spoilers) -

Bernard seemed taken genuinely aback when she mentioned the door at the bottom. Am I alone in that?

Is it possible the door leads to the other silos? Maybe everyone else already knew/assumed that, but I didn't until the last shot.

I didn't catch that but the wait for Season 2 is going to be bad with that damned Writer's Strike.

That makes the most sense.

The author did an AMA and offered a bunch of insight. Everything he answered was restricted to only things from Season 1 of the show. Anything else was basically answered with, "it's later in the books."

He said Bernard didn't know about the door.

I've brought up the question about where are all of the bodies of past cleaners. He said if they weren't everywhere in the final shot with all of the silos then it was a miss by the show. I've seen some people post screen shots after playing with filters and there were definitely many more bodies out there but hard to see. The author also said (about how long bodies last) things out there last as long as someone wants them to. No idea what that really means.

He was pretty positive about the show and changes made from the books with most of them being necessary to make sense in a visual format versus reading. He did say the stars/astronomy piece was wrong. There should have been too much dust in the sky to see the lights that clearly, but that's a minor thing. It was pretty cool to see him talk about changes he liked and some things he though were unnecessary...again, it was mostly small stuff. He did say the tape was a much bigger deal and probably should have been featured more. In the books, Walk is a man but the author said he likes the female mother figure better.

For the most part he wouldn't rewrite the books any differently based on what the showrunners changed. He has another project being made where he said they had some ideas in that one he wished were his originally. Apparently he had a cameo during one of the cleaning shoots (maybe Juliete's) where he was a Silo person watching in the cafeteria. He said it was surreal seeing his vision recreated and he actually broke down in tears. Thought that was cool.

I started the first book yesterday because I can't wait years for more answers. Between the AMA and first few chapters of the book I feel I understand a lot of minor things I either missed or wasn't sure about. Looking forward to finding out more.
