At worst, she lied on the witness stand about being physically accosted by Till inside the store. But it’s unclear on if that even happened because they were the only two in the store. She didn’t report it to police and didn’t even initially tell her husband. Someone else told her husband and he confronted her about it. He and his accomplice are the ones that should have been in jail.
Apparently she has a memoir that can now be released since she died.

Don't get mad at me because you don't know anything about history or geography. Blame someone else

Did she admit she was lying about it?
This was a quote

Nothing that boy ever did could justify what happened to him.”
But the “bombshell” quote can’t be corroborated. She denied ever saying that she falsified the whole thing.

Her husband and the others than participated in the lynching? Of course. But y’all walk us through why she should have been arrested

I mean Occam’s razor works well on this case
Till likely did something juvenile and relatively harmless and being from the north didn’t think that much of it (flirted, whistled, said a joke you name it)
White woman from 50s in MS took offense
Absolutely vile despicable human of a husband violently gets a group and murders till
I would say with extreme confidence the truth isn’t far from the above. So I’m struggling to see the reasoning for the woman being enemy #1 and moreso, what her crime was to be arrested

I'm getting a history lesson in here today, I'd never heard of Emmett Till. Thanks y'all.

Oh, sure. Sure.
Or do you think he did absolutely NOTHING and he was randomly picked for the brutal murder? This isn’t say what he did deserved anything close to what happened to him, but it’s a real stretch to try and say he didn’t do a single thing that day

He whistled at her. His friends even said that. 60 minutes did an entire thing on the story in the early 2000s. It’s on YouTube.

You haven't stated much that's actual fact. You don't even know where the kkk came from or anything about east Mississippi, or probably where Starkville is located. You don't know anything about Parchman prison beatings and the racism that existed in the delta in the 1960s.

Yeah, IIRC there's not really any evidence she did anything wrong other than marry a POS. She didn't even tell her husband about the incident, she withheld the story because she feared how he might react. Another witness told the husband about it a day or two later and he was pissed at her for not telling him and letting him walk around like a fool.
I guess you could speculate that she was more involved or threw gas on the fire at some point but that's a pretty big leap to condemn someone of such a heinous crime.
Also, two black men participated in the murder. Of course nobody involved got punished because...Mississippi.

Your argumentative skills make you look dumber than your knowledge of history. But if it will stave off your coronary I'll concede. The Delta was the most racist place in the South.
Lmao.
Lmao.

He whistled, but it’s in dispute whether he whistled AT her. One of his accomplices claims he whistled at the 2 boys playing checkers outside the store.
I think it’s fair to say he likely did or said something that she mistook for flirting, or someone outside the store saw it and perceived it that way. I think it’s also fair to say her initial claims of being physically accosted in the store were not true.

What am I missing about this story?
She should burn in hell because she told her husband that someone whistled at her? Yea sure, if we could get inside her head and know that she said that with the intent of her husband killing him.
But it very well could be true that her husband is a complete psycho (obviously) and she didn’t know he would kill Till.
Obviously the husband should burn in hell for what he did.

During the murder trial,[note 1] Bryant testified that Till grabbed her hand while she was stocking candy and said, "How about a date, baby?" She said that after she freed herself from his grasp, the young man followed her to the cash register, grabbed her waist and said, "What's the matter baby, can't you take it?"Bryant said she freed herself, and Till said, "You needn't be afraid of me, baby",used "one 'unprintable' word"and said "I've been with white women before."Bryant also alleged that one of Till's companions came into the store, grabbed him by the arm, and ordered him to leave.
