have to say though, i was pleasantly surprised at the Alamo, , thought it was pretty cool.. but i was much younger .

It’s a relatively clean and safe downtown. It’s very walkable. You have a massive convention center and the Alamodome that can host pretty much anything as far as size goes. It’s centrally located within Texas. It’s a short drive from the airport to downtown. There’s plenty of hotel space.
I’m not raving about SA as a vacation destination. Personally, I think it has charm and lots of history, but I think it’s clear why it hosts so many major events.
