I've agree with almost all of your comments on the board, but I have to ask if you have data to substantiate this claim?

I’ve been in and close to that realm - granted it wasn’t in science - was recruited for PHD work, still am on occasion, just don’t see the need for it other than having the title, and most I have seen with it got it for that exact reason
