No! I don't think things are too good between him and JL. I'm sure Byrd does not like getting his arse chewed about drops when JL throws pick6's and gets CONSOLED after it.

Byrd deserves a break. If the guy doesn't play like he did last year, we don't have a NC! Remember the Auburn catch? Yeah, he has had some drops. I'm sure he has caught some bad passes as well. The fans are frustrated, to say the least, about JL's play. But nobody can be MORE FRUSTRATED than the WR's.

He absolutely does not.

He is a senior. He should be a leader on this team. Instead, we have to see him waving his hands in the air, yelling on the sidelines, him being quoted saying something to the effect of Lee having to get off to a hot start, cause if he doesnt, he can throw 8 INTs.

I'm pretty annoyed with Byrd right now. Lafell is a TRUE leader, and is making plays left and right, so Byrd has no excuse.

If you listen to some of the players talk they have been very supportive of playing Lee or JJ, at a time when you would think it would be the other way around.

Amen. And they show it in lack of effort many plays, for which they get their arse chewed. The difference - coaches not likely to chew you for mistakes if there's effort (ala JL), very likey if there is no effort (ala WRs in some cases)

Byrd hung in and threw a lotta blocks for Lafell on those bubble screens. May not seem like much, but he was out there giving some effort.

Omegaman66 - you make a good point. It does seem the players still are very supportive of JLee in spite of the disgusting performances we've seen. There is a lot more to be said for that then most fans are willing to give credit for. That's a huge thing, actually.

As for Byrd, he should have made that reception that bounced off him and so many Bama players last week. That was a major difference maker in that game. as in our social confines called "LIFE" football players also need to understand responsibility and accountability. Once you go off on a tangent and pity yourSELF you become a cancer. I hope Mr. Byrd ain't there yet.

it looks like the WR have cashed it in this year. I am sure they are very frustrated. Maybe that is why you are seeing alot of the other receivers. didn't Jared Mitchell get in the game? I think things are pretty bad with Byrd and Lee. This is Byrd's "stock" year. he is falling in the draft with every game.

Byrd was brought up on the Scoreboard last night and most seemed to agree that he's checked out.

Lazy blocking, dropped passes, not diving for balls, etc.

I know he's frustrated but it's no freak occurence to see Lafell doing so well - it's called attitude, demeanor, effort.

All of which Byrd gives poorly.

Disagree.

He seems to be almost pouting because a bad year at QB is ruining his chances for the draft. Does that sound like a team player?

That's hwy JUCO's are such a gamble. That being said, I think D Byrd will be back to normal in the last three games.

There is nothing worse than being stupid, and Byrd is or is acting like he is stupid. If he is worried about his draft status and stats to boost it, he is stupid. All he has to do is show up at the combine/pro day, and run his 4.3. The NFL coaches, GMs, scouts know how to evaluate prospects. They see his time and an interest is peaked. They will look at his #s for the year and say,"Wait a second, he had shitty #s this year and good #s and clutch grabs last year." Then they will soon find out that the RS Fr QB throwing to him struggled mightily all year. Then Byrd isn't all to blame for those bad #s. But here is where being STUPID comes into play. Byrd seems like your typical frontrunning WR. Last year, "Can't see me!" This year, "Can't see me cause I am mailing it in!" Don't think NFL guys won't get wind of his behavior and then have character issues affect his draft status. He just needs to shut up and be patient.
