If you want brown, use shredded pine bark mulch.

Went to Home Depot today and there’s a big sign that says 3 for $10. Wasn’t it always 5 for $10? Bastards.

Yes it was 5 for $10 last year. Bummer, but better than no deal.

I just saw this AM that Lowe's is offering 49% off mulch @ $2.00 per bag. Sale ends on April 12th.

I just left Lowes with:
14 bags of $2 mulch
8 bags of Black Kow
15 bags of $2.29 soil
3 3cf peat moss

Loaded all that in my truck by myself cause I’m a complete dummy…..

Now I need a muscle relaxer and a very cold beer!

They never put the good stuff you should be using on sale.

I just put 20 bags of this great stuff down and it looks fantastic.

I also just picked up 10 bags of the trashy brown $2 mulch to put on a generally neglected bed on the side of the house.

Is it cheaper to just buy the truck bed full from a local nursery?

If equal quality (a huge caveat), it’s easier for me to haul, dump and shake 20 bags or so where I need it. As opposed to dumping a load on the driveway or getting a trailer to haul, having to pitchfork the mulch into a wheelbarrow, and then hauling and dumping the mulch at the ultimate destination.

“they wait until everyone has planted and it stops selling, then they put it on sale.
you are a bit early so give it a few more weeks and after easter the sales will be out”

That’s not true. Mulch on sale is a loss leader (Lowe’s loses money when mulch is 5 for $10). It is the number one attaching item that drives a larger basket / average ticket. The 5 for $10 is a national promo, so the timing is based on when a majority of the country is ready to purchase…

rubber mulch

I keep a few bags of this in the garage. It’s perfect for holding down the pads I put on my car when they predict hail here in DFW. It doesn’t get waterlogged like “real” mulch and the bags are lighter but heavy enough to do the job.

I also buy a few extra bags of regular mulch and store them for Halloween. I lay out big Hefty lawn bags and dump a bag of mulch on top of each one. Stick a headstone on one end and you have a nice little grave. After Halloween, you drag the bag into your flower bed and give your mulch a nice refresh.

I only bought 20 bags of mulch for our garden paths. Nothing else. I guess I stuck it to Lowe’s today!

Thanks for the heads up on the topic.

3 days of separate trips, ended up with 45 bags of black mulch, 30 bags of buy 3 get 3 free soil, more flowers, 2 bails of peat moss. Going to end up getting some more peat moss for top dressing lawn in certain spots, just sucks they are 20$ a piece

Lowes is still doing the $2 mulch. Just ordered some online. Im thinking Home Depot might not do it this year. Kind of surprising
