quote:"holding it down" is a term that should be used loosely
BI, CJ, and the rest of the team that’s been holding it down while he’s on the bench.
We're around 20 games or so under .500 these past 2 seasons without Zion. We are a shite team without him.

Seems like an odd accusation to make after he literally did what he had to do to come into this season much slimmer and in shape. I doubt he suddenly pulled a 180 on that after the season started.
And yet here we are

Yes they are holding it down considering they were counting on Zion being a major part of their playoff run. Yet they still won both play in games and gave the Suns a run for their money last year as well as in playoff contention this year.

Stretching, mobility work ,routine, etc is key to prevention. He’s more concerned about how he looks or is perceived. The way he ragged cj in that interview was very telling considering it came out the mouth of a guy who has missed so many games to start his careeer.
100% agree!

Anybody that thinks these injuries couldn’t be prevented no matter what zion does has their head up their arse.

I'm not sure the Pelicans will ever come out with any degree of connection to negative comments about Zion. The organization seems like a tightly run ship with few leaks. Even the stuff that comes out is denied by parties that have least interest to deny, like Zion denying the weird Griff bubble reports.
That's all to say that I can't imagine anyone within the Pels criticizing Zion with any degree of connection of the person to the comment, so we're not going to see "a source within the team tells me..." At best any source will try to separate from a comment by making clear that information can only be shared as "whispers around the team," etc.
Anyway, this reminded me of all the Jasper Bibbs fluff from September. Is he still around? No idea whether he's continued with Zion and failed or if he helped, isn't around, and is needed again.

Didn’t mean to thumbs this one down. This is accurate. Zion came in shape this year. And took a beating every single game. Feel bad he got hurt.

They've reviewed all the records, put their decades of medical expertise to use, and it's good to have those guys around here to tell us definitively what is going on with Zion.

You guys need to remember that he's still just 22 and y'all shite on him and want to trade him for pennies on the dollar because he's not acting like a seasoned vet.
Last offseason moving away from his parents and to a professional chef and trainer was a big step. If I were the team I'd expect more changes, and I'd have suggestions. I'm not an expert so I don't know what those changes should be, maybe it's as simple as doing yoga every day, but I'd tell him his end goal should be LeBron, where he's spending over $1 million a year of his own money to stay in peak condition. And when he has an injury he's flying over to Germany to get cutting edge treatment he can't get here.
What the team needs to see is more progress in that direction, and I don't see why Zion wouldn't be moving that way himself. One thing we've missed since CP3 left was a player that hates to lose. When they lost to the Rockets it wasn't BI we heard about storming off furiously after he had that crushing turnover, it was Zion. I think the pieces are there, the team just needs to help him put it all together.

I agree. Has zion gotten better since his rookie year? yeah i think so. Is he taking the absolute best care of his body, and giving the attention that say Lebron does? absolutely not

I’ve heard that Zion particularly enjoys the festivities at a couple Bourbon St establishments

Remember the SLAM interview where Zion made fun of CJs pregame stretching routine
came off like a guy in my 8th grade lunch line making fart jokes.
I was disappointed to hear that but unsurprised.
fans including griff are still hoping.
man I would deal him soon as he is healthy and doing his 27 7 4.5.
that pre teen attitude ended my hope for ceiling zion.
ceiling zion has a 3 pt shot from 25 and a 5 to 10 ft jump hook in the lane reminds us old timers of Hofer chet walker.
I saw morant do a 18 foot jumper from the side yesterday. proper form.
he was out 8 games.
came back with an additional feature in his arsenal.
morant is still not at his ceiling but he's a little better at things he needs. went from awful to ok from 3.
and he's now the 2nd best guard at worst, maybe best in the game driving on the inside. Kyrie is great. morant is great.

I have a feeling that if Zion did all the same things he does now AND played for a team based in California or New York the narrative would be VERY VERY different.
Jose sits on the bench - anyone want to cast a stone in his direction and call him lazy or detached?

new York Knickerbockers would have moved him by now. see KP.
gsw just dealt wiseman.
sacto would be like new orleans. hope. golden ring.
nets just dealt Kyrie and kd.
I don't see the successful teams hoping. they deal.

Jose’s situation is completely different. Jose is not the focal point of the team…. Zion is. Jose doesn’t have a reputation for being out for extended periods of time… Zion does. Jose has been out one month for a 6 to 8 week injury. Zion has been out for 3 months for an injury that should take 3 to 8 weeks to recover from.

both hosts said they are hearing very concerning things coming out of NOLA
NOLA is a city, not a person. They could have read something on here or plucked that off the podcasts they listen to in order to "keep their ear on the ground"
If a source isn't listed with a quote, why give it the time of day?

The he’s just 22 is a blessing and a curse .
He still has time to figure it out , but to be injured this often , this young is not a great sign . Almost all have been leg and/or foot injuries . Generally once the wheels start going bad they don’t get better .
Maybe he’ll turn a corner and become addicted to rest, recovery, mobility , fitness , etc .
Maybe not .
