Todd Peterson hit bombs!
Furniss and Walker were great during their time. Brandon Larson will always have the greatest year of a Tiger, possibly NCAA. Crews will definitely be on that Mount Rushmore of great LSU players.

I'm really tired of people asking "is he better than Alex Bregman?". Just a silly question. From a college career standpoint, Bregman, as good as he was, doesn't come close to Dylan Crews. I don't feel any need to pretend otherwise.
Trying to compare him to Walker and Furniss is the hard part, because those guys had ridiculous numbers, but the game was so different. I think he is certainly superior in talent over those two, in terms of how he projects at the next level, and I tend to believe that if you stuck Crews in the 90's, he'd have all the records. But since time travel isn't an actual thing, that's just a guess.

Crews might be one of the most talented CBB players I’ve ever seen in general. Defines what a 5 tool player is, and impacts every game he plays in. I would say yes to being LSU goat, and he’s approaching legend status in all of college baseball in general. A deep run this year seals that IMO, I fully believe he could walk into an MLB clubhouse tomorrow and still put up numbers.

I agree. The approach and pitch recognition are elite beyond a lot of guys playing in Triple-A, and the overall skill is obviously off the charts. As with any rookie, there would be a certain learning curve to seeing MLB pitching every day, but his mental game is so strong, that I think he would adjust rather quickly. And there are no holes in his swing. Prior to this year, you could get him up and in. He could even hit that at times, but he would have a tendency to chase there. That has gone away, and he's shown he can hit any pitch in any location, in any direction. Not much left to prove when he gets to the minors.

LSU?
You are underselling him. If he continues at anything remotely close to this pace, he will go down as one of the greatest college positional players ever. His performance (relative to his competition) is among the best you will see at any level. Absolutely dominant hitter and a complete baseball player.

The dude started the weekend batting over 500 and has improved his average. You shouldn’t be able to do that in baseball.
Seriously.

Crews is better in every phase of the game.
It’s not debatable.
Bregs was better defensively than Crews is. And Crews won't be asked to steal bases but Alex was better on the bases than Dylan. There are some phases of the game that Bregs was better. Some have forgotten how magical Bregs was at SS.

Bregman was at a more important defensive position than Dylan. I don’t believe he was a better defensive player than Crews for what they are asked to do. Crews makes difficult outfield plays look routine on the regular. Crews and Bregman are not a good comparison as far as college baseball players. And I loved watching Bregman in purple and gold. He was one of my favorites.

Agree.
Would have to look at Furniss's numbers, but Dylan had K'd more in 2 years than Walker did in his entire career. He was money for three straight seasons.
That said, what Dylan is doing this year I'm not sure any Tiger has ever done before, not Larson, Walker, nor Furniss.

I agree that trying to compare Bregs and Crews runs into complications. They play different positions. But consider, if Andrew Stevenson was on the team, who starts in CF? Likewise, is there anybody else who's ever played for us at SS better than Bregs was? IMO, no.
That said, if I had to pick one player to start a team, I would take Dylan over anybody who's every played for us.

In today's game where I can watch almost ALL the games and see it unfold, YES, he is the best LSU BB I have personally watch play. He is 5-tool and makes it look easy. Any team that passes on him in the MLB draft, i.e. if he is not the #1 overall pick, will regret it. He has the ability to impact EVERY game vice every 5th game.

Best in my opinion as well. Better than Joey Belle. Larson was a stud but Crews is ahead of the pack. Keep in mind who Dylan had in the lineup w/ him as freshman. A little better last year but this is the 1st year he has had the same amount of good college hitters around him... Furniss was surrounded by studs, so was Belle and Larson.

Todd Walker. Unless Crews leads us to title. It's Walker

I understand what Walker and Eddy did, but the SEC in the 90s wasnt what it is today. The level of overall talent is so far above what it was 30 years ago.

It’s a bold statement, but I also believe it to be correct.
It’s like when there is a stud player on a high school team, always getting their name called
