You won’t see disagreement from me with the security debate. 99.9% of all of crypto should be securities. Coinbase will likely pay a fee, delist the shitcoins, and move on

Guessing you hold assets on Coinbase. I think you would be crazy not to pull them off as soon as possible. If they go bankrupt they own those assets not you. It is clearly spelled out in the terms of service.

You're guessing wrong. I don't keep anything on exchanges. Only use them for on and off ramping.

But thanks for looking out for me there, while from the other side of your mouth you cheer on the corrupt SEC to frick with American citizens' financial freedom.

You sure are angry for someone with no skin in the game. Guess you believe that exchanges should be able to completely operate unregulated. Sure has worked out great so far

Haha. You're attracted to crypto threads like a moth to a flame. Always hating. I can't understand why you spend so much energy hating everything crypto. Are you pissed because you see people making better gains than you do in the traditional market? And you can't come to grips with that so you want the government to kill crypto?

I won't deny that the shite FTX and Voyager (and whatever others I'm leaving out) did and how they completely fricked their users is criminal. I don't think the answer is to try and force crypto under the regulation umbrella of traditional finance.

You sound like you like big government. More regulation to keep us safe?

Why should crypto be treated differently?

I don't want any of these regulations, but they exist. We are talking about reality, not the Land of Hopium.

Cool. Again, we're discussing reality, not the Land of Hopium.

The SEC does exist and it has power to regulate securities. Within that paradigm, why should crypto be treated differently?

Because not all crypto fits the definition of a security. Btc is not a security. Hex is not a security.

The way these exchanges do staking, however, its hard to say that isn't done with "expectation of profit from the work of others."

You wonder why people hate crypto.... Besides the obvious it is 99.9% scams preying on the most unfortunate. Especially on a sub forum for people who want to advice on how to be responsible with their money.

I'm sorry the human race can't be this utopian society where we can live without regulation. But take one look at the crypto space and you can see why it is needed.

There have been 100x more scams perpetuated with the US dollar than with any crypto currency in existence.

Well sure because you know it is the mostly widely used stable currency in the world. However the large majority of usd transactions are not scams.

The primary use case for 99.9% of crypto assets is scams.

So not really comparable here.

>gets convinced and buys crypto
>shills it on forums and other social media to convince others to buy it
>others get convinced and buy it then start shilling it out on forums and social media as well
>spreads and you win when it hits mainstream media like bitcoin

it's how bitcoin got its roots and how other coins have gotten theirs as well

sure it is.
Scams happen regardless of currency. Next time IT support calls your memaw, it will be for USD and amazon gift cards. Not ETH.

I believe it should be treated differently because a lot of them are in a grey area between a security, a commodity, and a currency. Some lean closer to one than the others, but they're still pretty unique.

It is always interesting to read how opinionated people are about subjects they claim they are not involved in.
