The bottom line is that the results of this election will have a huge impact on the quality of education that the students of LP will receive. EBR and Tangipahoa Parish voters passed this same tax so schools in Central and Zachary along with Ascension schools can pay teachers $5,000-$6,000 more. Therefore, we are losing large numbers of teachers throughout the district. There aren’t enough certified teachers to fill the vacancies so schools are having to lower their standards and hire non-certified teachers. I submit that 1 cent per $ on some purchases is worth paying to provide our students with a quality education.

It’s why my wife will leave if not passed. Schools in the area are becoming daycare.

EBR school taxes don’t affect central or Zachary. And the last time Zachary tried to pass a new sales tax it failed badly.

If parents of students want to give their kids’ teachers a $5k raise, why not have the parents give the teachers a $5k tax-free, cash bonus each year? A class of 20 students would cost $250 per each student.

Government’s answer to fix problems always involves throwing money at them. Private schools provide a higher quality education for less.

Cost per Student

Livingston Parish Schools - $15.3k

Catholic High BR - $12.7k

St. Joseph’s Academy - $11.7k

St. Michael the Archangel - $11.4k

Parkview Baptist - $10.7k
