Question Re: Changing Homeowners Insurance

With UPC dropping my homeowners this month, I’m being forced to replace with a surplus carrier at 4x or citizens at 10x.
My agent is requesting I sign a form releasing UPC from coverage at the request of the Insured.
This seems odd as they are dropping me and not the other way around.
Is there something I’m missing here?
Obviously have asked my agent but haven’t gotten a response yet so figured many people here are going through the same issue.
TIA

UPC dropped me last month and I didn’t have to sign any release form

It’s standard operating procedure.
DOI (dept of Ins) requires it to be filed.
Sign the paper and move on.

UPC is dropping you and requesting you sign a form stating "at the request of the insured"? I'd ask them as politely as possible, how much is my signature worth and tell them to eat shite. They want to drop me, I'm not signing shite.

UPC is dropping everyone as of March 29, regardless of what you sign or don't sign.
Is your agent setting the replacement policy to go into effect prior to March 29? If so, then you'd cancel the UPC policy early, as of the date the new coverage starts, so your refund will be pro-rated from that date instead of the 29th
