In search of Horse Tail plant to put around house. Willing to come dig up near Lafayette. Will also consider Iris or Lily's.

Horsetail or Equisetum is a unique plant in the plant kingdom, I like it as well, and you can find it and dig it out many ditches if you keep an eye out for it. But be aware, it can be overly aggressive in spreading and get of hand pretty quickly unless you contain it with barriers.

That's the major negative to this plant. It is very aggressive and spreads easily. I would only use it in pots or a very contained area such as a raised planter

don’t plant horsetail it will get away from you and you’ll never get rid of it. Iris’s are sprouting all over roadside ditches now go dig some up. You can also find spider lily in there with the iris

Yes I'm aware its aggressive but also hardy. It will be in contained beds around the house under the drip line where every other plant gets beat to death by the rain drip. Even if it does escape I'll just mow it over. I like that its hardy and self spreading, low maintenance. Same with Iris or Canna Lily's although I'm not sure if I get enough sun light for those two.

I like the look of the plant but all my yard expert friends said plant in either a container or something with serious border control.

By contained in a raised planter or there needs to be a concrete edger/wall with a footing that goes at least 3' deep. Steel edging will not contain it and it will spread to other areas of your bed and into the yard. It spreads like bamboo.

You can't contain it unless, as previously mentioned, you put a deep barrier. Just don't do it except in pots.
