planning family trip (kids 13&15) to either cancun or jamaica. All inclusive resort, what’s the better option to keep everyone happy? thanks

It depends on where you live.
There is a steady stream of direct flights year round from Houston to Cancun, no so much for the rest of the middle & Eastern Caribbean. I tried to hit up DR, half the flights required going through New York! and the other half had a stop in Miami, for trip times of over eight hours. No thanks.

I've always felt Puerto Rico is underrated.

You're connecting in ATL, DFW, MIA or IAH to get to Jamaica at least.
The *shortest* series of flights I can find in Mid-June for a 6 day stay are five and a half hours. However, the *cheapest* are an astonishing 19 and a half hours!
Meanwhile, MSY to CUN offers one direct flight, are much cheaper, and the flights that have connections max out at 4.5 hours.

Beaches and service are much better in Cancun.

I’d prob opt for Cancun right now. Been to Jamaica a couple times and loved my stays in Montego Bay and negril but I’ve read a lot that its more dangerous than ever right now if you go anywhere outside your resort.

I wouldn't bring Kids to Jamaica. I have been 3 times and most of the Nice All inclusive or Adults only . Cancun is not dangerous as long as you hang around the main attractions. Jamaica, can be alarming everywhere.

I just got back from Jamaica last week and I think people are nuts for considering bringing their kids to that island.

Cancun is like going to Destin, lots of resorts just south of Cancun between Playa and Cancun

My thoughts also. I don’t get going to Mexico beaches when Destin is the same.

I would also consider the Cabo area Great resorts, good fishing and because its a desert its less humid. Very safe outside of resort and some fabulous restaurants.

OP has been answered but the ability to see Mayan ruins alone would put it over Jamaica.
