I’m about to sign up but wasn’t sure which way was better or if it mattered? So phone vs laptop. I’m leaning towards using my laptop so I can use my phone while playing. Seems like it would be easier to use it through the phone though. Any insight?

Here’s my DIY setup for anyone interested

Designed it where the poles are hinged and can be folded down back against the screen. The 2 poles you see up top are the whole skeleton of the enclosure. So basically, I untie that kettlebell and I get my garage back (outside of all the shite you see there in the pic). The curtains also serve to protect the screen while it’s folded up. The dangling kettlebell is just temporary. Also got a new projector on order to replace what’s there now. I wanted it functional ASAP lol

PC is definitely the way to go. Graphics and performance will be better as long as you meet the required computer specs. Be sure your graphics card meets or exceeds the requirements. That is the biggest factor on how smooth it will run.

I use with iPad, and have no issues with speed or graphics. I chose that because I can also take it mobile with phone. I don’t think you will be disappointed with it either way.

This is what I ended up doing. There’s no where I’m gonna bring it all that I can’t bring my laptop & rarely will it leave my garage anyway

I use an iPad for E6 and Awesome Golf. I just purchased TGC 2019 and need a pc to run it, but also have to use you phone to run an app to connect the r10 to TGC 2019. I really like the awesome golf app. You can try it for 2 weeks free then it’s $350 for lifetime or a yearly fee. I find when friends come over that’s what we end up playing, especially if the wives want to play a scramble type game. I also like it’s range setup.

you also get 5 free courses on E6 with the r10. so definitely play around on those before you buy. I decided to buy the TGC 2019 over E6 after looking at both. Gunghogolf has a lot of good info on their site comparing the 2. TGC 2019 vs E6 Connect

When we got our trackman jn 2016 it was during their transition to their purchase of Perfect golf by Jack Nicklaus - so we did E6 - although the trackman system is now awesome - we really enjoy E6 still - better games and different courses

If you go to the garmin golf app and select golf sim. Then go down to E6 it will give you a code to enter for the free courses

full stop. LINK

stop wasting money on e6 or tgc. old, expensive, outdated.

There is a reason trackman is suing GSPro as of a few weeks ago.

I thought trackman was suing bc gspro used the data from perfect golf to start gspro. What’s the latest on that situation?

That is the latest. Foresight announced partnership with GSPro and trackman retaliated with a lawsuit. The partnership is put on hold until the lawsuit is settled.

The lawsuit is speculative based on assumptions

More and more people are starting to realize trackman is not the best anymore. Lawsuits and commercials will only get so far in an industry that's rapidly evolving.

Just need the (boomers/gen x) to (die out/get vaxed) because they hate sim golf and technology is scary.

With 2024 stadium golf, Uneekor Eye Mini, MLM2Pro coming out simgolf is going to to be even more affordable and popular.

Ad in some cheap slow motion cameras and a cheap online coach with from skillest and suddenly a minimum wage beginner can be a single digit hcp.

trackman is still the best portable launch monitor because it accommodates both righties and lefties at same time. That being said, Trackman missed an opportunity with the average golfer market...Mevo+ and Garmin R10 seem adequate for this market's needs...

I disagree. Foresight's launch monitor is way more mobile and durable. You can basically hit it with a full shot and it's fine. I'd be terrified of bringing a trackman with me on the course they are kind of janky. Of course, you can insure them now which I didn't know until I talked to the owner of the sim I go to so maybe it's not that big of a deal.

I'll second GS Pro. It has waaaaaay more courses than Trackman/Foresight software. Trackman's PGA courses were very limited from my experience. Maybe they've rolled more out more but GS Pro has Augusta National, which is awesome.

I guess my point is that if you are playing with buddies and there are lefties and righties in the group, using the Foresight would be a pain in the arse...

I'm surprised they haven't considered that
