It’s at 60,000 feet. Isn’t that above most cloud cover,

Probably so. I’ve never been up that far. That was just my blurry, 4:00 am brain thinking.

Are normal thinking people really supposed to believe the US let a Chinese Spy balloon just drift into restricted airspace and they just let it blow around? Something isn't adding up. If they let a balloon sneak up on them then Chinese and Russian Jets might be a little bit of a problem.

I don't think so. Going that high is precarious at best

For tin Yankee machinery, maybe. I bet a MiG-31 could take that balloon right out. Shoot, a MiG-23 probably could.

No Chance. Chy - na has already paid Biden for 4 more days to map our military bases.

It cracks me up how many morons think our leftist government is somehow beholden to China. Nixon, Carter, and Reagan started the bipartisan mass Chinese relationship to extract cheap manufacturing labor to ease inflation.

For years now, the US has been divesting from China. We are currently in the process of wholesale corporate divestiture that will see the vast majority of our manufacturing base move back on shore or to Mexico, whose labor is more skilled and much cheaper, with a demographic makeup built to support us for the next generation or two. Our government is building technological infrastructure to support our mass demand for microchips and ease Chinese reliance on any critical supply chains.

China is a dead man walking; they face a demographic time bomb that serves as an existential threat. The China we know today will not exist in 20 years, it will break up or become completely nationalist to survive.

You seem to have an educated opinion so I won’t disagree, but I think you’re being extremely optimistic from our point of view. I do hope you are correct.

An Asian power desperate for resources in order to continue their current way of life and demographics

Glad that's never gone badly before

Sure we may come off as heels to the world, but we already are anyways.

It might end badly for someone in their sights, but it won’t be the US.

China is currently sitting on the oldest large scale human population the world has ever seen. They import huge portions of their energy; including shipping oil from Russia, through Europe, down around the southern tip of Africa, and over to China. They’re fricked with no real way to sustain. Maybe Africa will develop a consumer base that will take their junk. I doubt it.

Nobody in the world likes China. It is a pretty well universally hated country.

I'm sure there's a geographic reason but they really can't figure out a way to ship it over land? That's such a longer and more expensive route
