At the property in Woodville. Anyone have experience planting these seedlings? How long till we see acorns?

Should see acorns in 7 years. Water frequently first year

I planted mine 6 years ago and no acorns yet. I recommend using tree tubes.

We bought a place in North Mississippi five years ago that has some mature sawtooth oaks – all 12-13 years old. First three years we owned the place the trees produced well and the deer absolutely hammered them. We can see one row of sawtooths from our house and when the acorns started falling there were often two or three deer walking around waiting for the next treat to hit the ground.
Year four was an unbelievable bumper crop – way more than the any of the previous three years. Just a gut feel but it seemed like we had at least twice the production than any of the previous three years. Year five (this past summer/fall) we had almost zero sawtooth acorn production. I’ve read the boom and bust cycle is not uncommon. Hoping for a better year in '23. We also have a good number of mature native also which produced very well this year – probably the best in the 5 years we’ve been here. Wish I knew why this occurred. Did not seem to be weather related as the overall weather was not bad and had good spring and early summer rains.
I know this doesn’t really answer your question on new trees but we are very happy to have the mature sawtooths and our deer like them even more!

I’m in north MS as well.
I planted a few chestnut trees a few weeks ago. I have some white oaks coming as well. I may go ahead and plant some sawtooth oaks. The deer really hammer the white oaks that are out there.

They will be the first type of acorn tree to drop every year. Good timing for early bow seasons.

Last weekend, the Airline hwy Baton Rouge’s Home Depot parking lot curbs were covered with sawtooth acorns, guessing no wildlife around there to consume them. Didn’t notice if any were still hanging in the trees.

We planted some in Avoyelles Parish and they are at least 8 hrs old and still have not produced an acorn crop. Black jack clay soil which is high in nutrients. But we don’t fertilize. Still wondering what’s going on.

Older Buddy of mine got high and planted 30 of them off his front porch cause he thought it would be great to watch the deer feed under them.
Now 25 years later the deer don’t feed under them but they sure do block the beautiful view of his pasture that sits below the hill
True story. When we finally asked him why the hell would he plant trees blocking the view he confessed

I regret planting all the ones we did.

Doesn't matter.
If you produce acorns in three years would that be great? Nope, because the trees would be so small that the production wouldn't amount to shite. Regardless of when they produce their first acorns you will still have to wait until they get a few more years on them before the amount of acorns matters.

I don’t get the excitement about that tree. The acorns drop before bow season starts.

Lotta negativity in this thread so far.
I hope they work out because I want to provide year round food for my deer. Yeesh

My uncle planted some around his house years ago for deer. I forgot how many years it took for them to produce but it was soon. Maybe like 5 years. I was taught at LSU they are a very good tree to add to your native trees for mast production. Good luck with yours. I wish I had started at our place years ago, but I planted a couple persimmon trees this year and plan to add a few different types of trees every year.
