I just realized that “merc” means Mercedes.

Why don’t you refer to it as MB?

Always been the shorthand for Mercedes since I can remember. Not sure the reasoning.

Wild arse race, mates.

Will post more detailed account of my experience this week and paired with my food adventures on the food and drink board.

Skiutahs predictions were wrong regarding attendance.

That race is here to stay.

Maybe because Benz is not in the official F1 team name. Mercedes-Benz is the parent company but Mercedes AMG Petronas is the name of the F1 team. Merc is ubiquitous across all F1 forums.

The more confusing one is how Macca was used for years on the old Speed Channel forum when referring to McLaren. I still find myself using it on occasion. I just remembered another confusing one: "TOIT" short for the other Italian team. It was used for Minardi when they were still around.

Up and about after post-race sleep.

Have to admit, race was a hell of a lot better than I expected. Would have loved to have seen in warmer temps and a broken in track.

I could have sworn I stayed awake long enough to see finish. But wake up to see Lecler second.

Missed checo loosing out on last lap twice now, and as a hater, it’s something I want to witness.

What happened to my boy Tsunoda? I know AT fricked him strategically but the DNF?

I enjoyed the race/track ALOT.
Want to see some fan reviews and learn more before I make a trip.

I did not realize there’s a 10 year deal in place. Hopefully tickets go down, but it being vegas I don’t see it happening. In fact, the opposite

I was hoping for both Williams to stay in the points, but this is a pretty typical result for them (their qualifying speed is better than their race pace).

They had zero race pace and didn't capitalize on the yellow flags. Pretty shitty race for them, but at least they didn't lose any points to teams below them.

Was a great race. The week started bad but finished on a high. F1 will tweak some things to get it more fan friendly and it will become an event everyone likes.

It's officially for 3, City has agreed to do 10, up to F1.

As he trailed behind every lap, his car was by itself going around turn 1. It sounded like it backfired every time it went around.

Will be interesting to see if we ever get the $$$ figures from this event.

Would be intersted to see how much brought in vs how much lost the last 6 months. That one gas station on the backside of the track said they lost 2m due to the event.

Think the race blew away anyone's expectation.

DRS was near perfectly set.

Everything before and after is so Vegas.

Why did Cheko give up the inside position on last lap last big straight? Had he taken inside it forces LeClerc to take outside and get squeezed.

It is a F1 driver thing to always take the racing line if you are leading. I don't get it either, seems like with how drivers are allowed to control the track on the inside now that would always be the ideal defense position.

I'm not an F1 driver though, so there is that.

Lacks focus according to Darth Helmut

Also huge missed troll opportunity by Sphere not having Helmut watching Checo on the last lap.
