PWO with an offer list containing:
16 power 5 teams
6 of those being SEC schools: Tennessee, Auburn, Arkansas, Kentucky and both Mississippi schools.
He could end up being a steal and fan favorite too considering he wants to be here bad enough to pass up on going to those schools.

Wow, that’s impressive . I’m adopting him as my underdog player in the class to really pay attention to and to pull for.

I'd imagine he received assurances that he would get a scholarship in the near future by turning down that many offers. I'd be surprised if he doesn't receive one this summer once the spring transfer portal is complete.

Yeah this seems like a situation where his tuition might be paid for already but under wraps with nil. Regardless I can’t imagine going to into the season with him not being on scholarship

Maybe it’s changed since I was in college, but our PWOs had to be enrolled for a year before getting awarded a scholarship? Anyone know if that’s still the case?

I seem to remember this as well. However, if he were redshirting anyway, he could go to school on TOPS and use the time to get bigger, stronger, faster

It is impressive since those schools saw something they liked, as did we obviously, but to rain on the parade as I would any time "offers" are used as a barometer, how many could he have signed with as a scholarship player, particularly the SEC schools? Also an unusual year with no real limits. Have heard nothing but great things but those offers are meaningless fodder.

TOPS, if he qualifies, will cover less than half of the cost to attend LSU if you throw in housing and meal plans. Plus it only covers tuition up to a max amount (LSU's tuition is higher than the max and LSU is the only state school that does not automatically waive the difference).

Trust me I know.

There has to be something in the works to make sure that he is fully covered on the tuition stand point.

Two excellent points that fanboys won’t want to read.

ETA: I like these kinds of pickups because some of them end up being very good, like Damien Lewis and Zy Alexander.

If he’s on the team, regardless of scholarship, can he not eat at the athletic facilities without a meal plan? Just wondering.

Also, maybe his family’s financial situation is such that he doesn’t need someone else to pay for school. Or maybe he has a full-ride academic scholarship.

Or enough NIL $ to cover tuition and expenses.

That may be true for some of them, but there's now way he goes 0 for 6 on those SEC schools signing him and definitely not 0 for 16. Which means he is a major power 5 player which is still pretty impressive for the kid to walk on.

This is an interesting thought... If you have enough NIL money to dish out, how big of a deal are scholarships?

You would know if he did. They are very difficult to get and they would shout it from the rooftops

I hope he gets to be a part of the rotation then sees what happens. I'm pulling for the young man. He's definitely one of us and representing us.
