Of all the stories of light and goodness in the world I just don't understand why so many people chose their platform to share stories of despair and darkness.

No you fight it by what I said in my earlier post....share it and everyone involved, boycott associated docs and entities that employ/educate/support these docs/personnel, and eventually they will end up serving only those that are in support of this lunacy. While some may survive the crunch, most will get their shite together. I think it's a fair question to ask your medical providers their position on such a thing, and continue/discontinue going to them accordingly. Anyone in support of this herocious problem is someone I deem not fit/qualified to address any of my healthcare concerns.

I blame the internet and 24/7 news.

These people are a small minority, but the media lives to support any group which portrays themselves as victims of those who are "evil" (evil only because they are white, often with "male" and "Christian" as additional qualifiers).

Prior to the internet, these types were spread very few and very far between. This isolation kept their ridiculous, harmful ideas in check. The internet came along and suddenly they could find others with their warped views of reality and bond together in groups, then claim they are "victims".

The competitiveness in the media as the news cycle has shortened below that of 24hours has pushed them to promote them as victims in need of empathy. The problem we have now are click-bait and click-bait-ish sites portraying themselves as legitimate news outlets yet running stories which are little more than "the internet is buzzing with..." tripe (where "the internet" being abuzz is defined by a single person tweeting something bizarre).

With all that said, my growing belief is that far more people than we've ever really understood are actually weak-minded to the point where they will agree with something as long as enough people repeat it. They either don't have the time and/or ability to research something to an extent to feel comfortable enough to make a decision independent of media or they simply don't care enough and would rather someone just spoon feed them on what they should think on certain subjects. These are the people who then get mad when the narrative is challenged (ie: "shut up because it's easier for me to just blindly follow and your resistance to that is causing me confusion and stress").

The irony of my espousing this over the internet is not lost on me.
