Marriage is about two people committing to each other to love and support each other faithfully until death and if God wills it to have Children and raise them to the best of their abilities.
People need a better understanding of what marriage really is. Marriage is a lifelong bond, commitment, and hard work with the expressed goal of creating a loving home and environment for family.
It’s about surrendering yourself fully to another person and trusting that they are surrendering themselves fully to you.
You cannot make that decision lightly. And you cannot commit without a true undertaking of what commitment is and who you are committing too.
Unfortunately marriage has just become another beautiful gift God gave us and we tarnished and destroyed because we’re short sited narcissists.
and once again, you can do that without signing a government contract.

And you will be giving the government more money than you have to.

The contract comes from history - making the kids legitimate and the wife gets the husband’s stuff in case he dies (nowadays social security and retirement benefits - and it goes both ways if the wife works)
There was marriage before there was government interference
ETA: plus - I thought you weren’t married? So what does it matter?

Couples are less likely to work through problems if splitting up is too easy. That “contract” encourages you to become a better person and work on your marriage.
We have seen the what is produced when kids are raised without two parents - a disfunctional society.
