It ranks just behind pho for greatest unconventional breakfast food IMO.

Of course pho is very conventional for vietnamese who eat it at any time. Most of the good pho spots on the westbank are open at breakfast time. I love going in there about 9:30am or so and being the only roundeye in the place.

sausage balls or boudin balls, bloody mary's, and some fruit. Sounds like breakfast to me.

At least once a month I make it to the East and have pho bright and early.

Yes, I meant unconventional for us.

Its the national dish of vietnam that uses a well flavored beef broth combined with rice noodles, basil, cilantro, and some sort of meat (brisket, flank, etc.) to create a soup that serves as a meal.

Its great...and we are blessed with tons of options for it New Orleans due to the large Vietnamese population that came down here after the fall of South Vietnam.

It is for the Vietnamese...it works well IMO too. The essence of the dish as a breakfast or lunch item really cannot be desribed...it is somehting one must try.

not saying that i wouldn't try it, but it doesn't look "solid" enough for me to eat for breakfast.
