Based on my experience in North Alabama last night, advanced weapons wouldn’t be needed to cripple this state, a simple thin layer of ice on the roads and we are finished.

Surprising a city like Buffalo wasn’t better equipped to deal with blizzard conditions, but it was a freak storm.

There are still limits on man made things when compared to mother nature. If someone wasn't prepared and everything around them failed, it's easy to see how people can die.

Seems like they are counting anybody that died from car crashes and everything else. Not necessarily snow/freezing to death.

There was a "No personal cars on the roads" notice put out. And ignored.

It's tragic for their survivors. But it's also tragic for the ones who died shoveling snow and operativn their snow blowers. Again, who benifits that one driveway is shoveled? The daily weather forecaston Accuweather shows Buffalo temperatures for the next three days not going below 32F
Thats three days of melting. So, do you shovel now or wait 23 hours for Nature to do it for you?

This was a freak snowstorm even by Buffalo standards.

Only 9.6% of the deaths were in cars. 3/31. The majority of deaths were probably homeless people. 17/31 were outside.

It also doesn’t say if they were found dead from being stuck in cars or dead from traffic accidents due to blizzard conditions. The thread title could use some work but that’s a run of the mill stout thread these days.
