My contractor bought all the materials from Mueller, so maybe he gets better pricing or I was quoted for a bolt together kit, I'm not sure. I believe my roof purlins are 4 ft on center but they are thick I beams so they should stand up fine.

Yeah, they gave me some spiel about 175 mph winds, post Katrina code, I like it, but I know it added quite of bit to the cost. Mine is bolt-together, red iron, with massive I-beams I hit my head on every time I go up in the attic. Love it, though.
