Ive seen clock operators be off by .01, .03, hell .08 before, and ive never seen this called. So next time they are pff by .02 on the inbounds, we can get a no basket?

Exactly. You could probably always argue it’s 0.1 or 0.2 off early or late

Could the refs determine how long the clock didn’t move? Like what amount of time left would have been good enough?

EXACTLY!

Like: Clock started .2 late but ball was on the way to the basket with .3 on remaining... did they review THAT?

“I’ve been coaching for 42 years and never seen something like that ending”
- John Brady

That about sums it up. If McMahon isn’t going absolutely nuts then I’m embarrassed. What a fricking embarrassment of a basketball tournament. And it won’t get the blowback that it should because people had to pay $30 to watch. Absolutely absurd.

It’s too close to overturn. Kids don’t deserve that. Let them play OT. Horrible way to end a good game.

Are they going to check every time the game clock or shot clock started in the game and take off all points accordingly? In every game?

Normally the refs have on belt packs, and they start the clock in a situation like that but because it was in the Cayman Islands, I’m guessing they didn’t have that technology and so it was totally on the clock operator to start the clock, and he just messed up.

The guy who played about 15 minutes in the second half with 4 fouls was still available to score the winning bucket. Great.

They should go back to every set play and every stoppage and add up all the late starts.

We could probably get rid of K state’s last basket 4 seconds before

I don’t blame the clock operator, mistakes happen.

I blame whatever ref decided to wave off a bucket made before the game clock hit 0. Every player on that floor can see the clock running down.

They basically said, “because of clock operator error, we will take away LSU’s opportunity to tie the game. Sucks for you.”

No freaking way.

from what I'm seeing on the NCAA rules sheet, there is no procedure to follow if something like that shitshow happens. Essentially the refs used their stopwatch timer and determined that Trae got his shot off in the time elapsed between stopwatch timer and game clock timer, thereby his shot is no good. it's bullshite, but that's what you get when you play in shitty MTE's like this

I'm sure you could make this call in all kinds of situations in every fricking game.

You telling me the clock operator gets it exactly correct every time?

bullshite. This is part of the game.

I want EVERY last second shot reviewed in every game for every team thus season. No bullshite.

Bingo. Basketball plays tenths of seconds. No human can synchronize that miniscule of time. No damn way

At the absolute bare minimum you get a do over. The game shouldn’t end like that because the clock operator is incompetent. LSU had a WIDE open look to the basket with plenty of time left. If he knows the correct time he could potentially loft up a floater

LSU did themselves in in the 2nd half with bad turnovers and poor offense but they didn’t deserve for the game to end like that
