I’d like to remove a tree or two but I have power lines and internet lines running through them. Inside BR city limits so is this something the city will at least trim the branches off the power lines or is it all on me to do? I’d hate to pull down a power line while doing this.

Wish they could go back in time and slap people who plant trees under them.

I would call Entergy. They're usually pretty vigilant about trimming tree branches that might interfere with their power lines.

Live in Jefferson Parish, but I'd imagine the situation is similar. You would need to contact Entergy to trim all branches away from the power line. No licensed arborist will work with tree branches through or over the power lines because Entergy can, and will, fine them. Plus, safety concerns.

If you call Entergy, and tell them you're removing the tree, they'll cut the tree down to where the trunk is below the powerline which makes removal pretty easy.

Entergy will remove the tree but not haul the wood off or bring it to the road for pickup. I know this because I came home one day to an entergy guy standing in my driveway about to begin cutting down a tree in my yard. I told him there was no way I was letting that happen and they came by a few weeks later to trim around the lines. I still don’t know how they thought showing up and just removing a tree on my fence line with no prior conversation was acceptable

Power from the main line to your home = your responsibility.

yes, the power lines are over the utilities right of way so call the power company, and report the issue, and say that you fear the wires will be pulled down by the trees in a thunderstorm.

after they cut all branches near the power lines you will most likely only have half the tree left there to cut down.

i had a friend who did this and he gave the power companys tree cutting guys $100 each to cut it all down and haul it off so all he had left to deal with was the stump. if they wont help you out, they will still have cleared it from the power lines so you can cut the rest of it down yourself
