This thread is one-stop shopping for sane takeaways from last night:

Republicans will narrowly take the House - smaller than their dreams - and this will be a headache for the Speaker
Georgia will proceed to runoff; Johnson will win in Wisconsin; Laxalt pretty likely in Nevada. If I'm right about these, we won't know about Senate control until December.
In most cases, election deniers lost. Kemp and Reffesberger won resoundingly.
Absurd propaganda about Republican voter suppression was debunked. "Jim Crow 2.0" not only didn't suppress the vote, but Georgia instead had its highest ever turnout for a mid-term.
Ron DeSantis is by far the biggest winner of the night. From winning by 1% last time, he won by 20% - including a 28% flip in Dade! This sets him up very well for 2024.
Bad night for Trump. Certainly, he was planning on riding a much bigger red wave by announcing next week. Perhaps he will reconsider:
Oz lost
Mastriano lost
Blake Masters will probably lose
Kari Lake will likely lose
Bolduc in NH lost
Michels in Wisconsin lost
Tudor Dixon in Michigan lost
Ronchetti in New Mexico lost
Many other house election denying candidates lost
It's true - Vance won in Ohio, but that took Mitch spending tens of millions to gain. He's almost the exception that proves the rule.
All issues that you think mattered, mattered: abortion, inflation, chix with dix, etc. That's why voters have delivered gridlock...they want all of this shite slowed down.
No matter what, majorities will be razor thin - a clear message from voters that there is no extreme mandate (in either direction).
Another big loser was all of the "end of democracy" pundits. The American system's capacity for self-correction instead of top down, Soviet style nonsense is astounding.

This is probably not accurate.

Both Lake and Masters will likely win.

Excellent synopsis.
Catastrophe syndrome of both sides has been stayed for awhile.

Lake is down 10k votes with 66% reporting.
You have been watching Fox News too much.
It’s the 2-2.5% of never trumpers voting 3rd party that cost us GA and AZ in the senate if they don’t win.
And you want to see Desantis primary Trump? If 10-15% of Trump voters only vote down ballot battlegrounds are lost in a landslide.

This thread was needed and I'm not being sarcastic.

Kari Lake isn't losing. Donald Trump absolutely needs to go away but I don't think that egomaniac fool has the ability to step away. I say that as a Trump voter if he were to run.

I haven't heard Fox say Lake is going to lose.

This isn't a very sane take. Our government is out of control and very Soviet-like. A severe correction is necessary, or all is lost.

This board is a Trump echo chamnber. Last night shows that the GOP has to move away from Trump to win the next presidential election. Sure Trump can carry the primary but when it comes down to a national election the Trump hate is a real thing. Desantis should be the nominee. Turtle and his 32 million saved Ohio.

More likely Lake wins. I doubt polls are that far off. If she loses. Pollsters need to be drummed out of business

Good thread, but what's the definition here? Anybody who believes there was organized fraud?

Cope and seethe with your meme spam clown.
Any critical analysis or nuance of this election is beyond your intellectual capacity.

quote:I would define it as single-issue voters where the issue appears to be an unwavering belief that a pre-planned, co-ordinated, nationwide effort to steal the vote was not only enacted, but also somehow was able to survive numerous court appeals...with those appeals being part of the conspiracy. An attendant belief would be the "no way Biden got 81 million votes" meme - despite the fact that massively high turnout just clearly is the norm now.

And what’s the tally for leftist election deniers?
Love your little catch words.
