Well that is good news. Wonder if the black bellies will stick around?

plenty pintails, GWT
If this is the case that would be amazing for this time of year. Otherwise I’m fully expecting bwt and greys.

Could have killed a 5 man limit by 7:30 saturday morning while speck hunting on Catahoula. Pintail and teal were THICK.

Anyone heard when the November aerial survey is coming out?

Can confirm Venice has the most pintails I’ve seen down there in 10 years. Saw probably 5k pintails, lots of grey ducks and decent amounts of wigeon. Killed 24 youth/ veteran hunt on Saturday. Killed 13 on Sunday. Pass a loutre was a dead zone.

Ooops, wrong thing. Never mind.

Guess we'll have the same "Pintail Problem" as last year. Worse problems to have I suppose.

I hope the coast gets so crowded with pintails, that a few have to feed on invasive vegetation in Maurepas swamp wma. I’ll be patiently waiting.

Idk last year everyone would shoot their one every hunt and then have to watch them fly, land, and dabble in the decoys. Sky full of them, like they knew the limit was 1 a piece. I mean I'm all for "real" decoys in the spread but the limit should at least be 2. Maybe they are not reproducing well in other flyways or something who knows.

But the woodies and hoodies don’t seem to mind it.

The sprigs I was talking about were in CenLa not the coast, but im sure they kill them down there.

How much coverage does the Catahoula have right now? I guess them cracks got the first 6 inches.

If water control at Archie is down, I have a hard time believing we will have enough. At least at my spots. Maybe by 2nd weekend.
Water seems to be CREEPING up.

that is just what I was told a few weeks ago. Reliable source but I am not a water expert. As far as exposure I am not sure, a few weeks back you could drive out pretty far by truck with a trailer which is normal, but Little River being so low was odd for this time of year. But its a big area so you could definitely see where it was wet in the distance once you got into the open.
I am not sure and havent heard anything about when/if the canal will be opened. I am sure there are some areas that are perfect for dabblers with low water but its a big place. Who knows, they may be trying to "survey" as long as possible. Then again depending on what part you hunt, coming up on opening week could be perfect and by that weekend you have 0 water or 6 feet of water. lol
