Anybody been seeing birds? I aint seen or heard much of anything up in the ArkLaTex and not even back home in CenLa on the goose reserve. Just gators. Hearing a lot of geese way up as usual in CenLa but they never stop where I'm at. Hopefully it won't be another hot season like last year. We need rain bad all over it seems and some cold fronts but I'm not optimistic on the cold.
Little early I know, and inb4 "No more ducks, move to Kansas."

Saw 10 or 12 dozen around venice when fishing. More than the last few years when fishing the last few falls.

I saw a couple hundred near Bay Denesse this week. The Ducks Unlimited crevasses are doing great!

I'd imagine they are trickling down but haven't been able to get out much to see. Praying for a good season.

This rain might be enough to get some sheet water on Catahoula. There’s plenty in the marsh. Tons of woodies, but that’s going to change when the water gets back in the swamp.

The vast majority of ducks are still north. I hunted Devils Lake ND last week and the amount of waterfowl was staggering. I hunted with Rick Darling of North County Guide Services. Rick said he usually stops guiding between the 7 to 16 Nov because weather pushes them south. Looking at their weather forecast for the next 10 days they are about to get moved.

Youth Weekend this weekend for the west zone. We got water so we got Birds. Hope my boys bring their A game

Went and worked blinds in SWLA on Sunday and saw good numbers of teal and gadwalls.

The number of teal in SE has me pretty optimistic. It is very dry up the line, so you would have to think that anyone who has water will do better than usual.

CenLa
I have no water in my hole and no way to pump it.
I got a little over an inch in the last 10 days or so, but it only closed the cracks in the mud. The were forecasting 1-3" on this front coming in tonight, but it's now saying an inch or less on my weather app.

Got blue tarps in my holes.

Less than 24 hours out for Speck opener and it’s going to be a few beat downs in NE LA from some of the videos I have seen. But that’s in LA, I’m in Texas. Our South Zone opens tomorrow and it’s gonna be epic. The only way it could be better would be if the Astros finish it off tomorrow too and Bama pulls one out in BR.

Yeah I knew it had been raining a little more which is much needed. Little River has a little more water on it in some places but not much. (also not sure if they fixed the Archie dam structure yet, but that is another story). Cracks were 6 inches deep when we brushed but im hoping the rains puts a few inches out near us. However, its like that every summer to a degree but never quite as dry as its been on the river, plus every time the water level is good they either flood it or drain it.

From the looks of the radar, I think you’ll be fine. Doesn’t take much to put water on that lake. We went one year for teal season, almost no water on lake. Rained most of the night and be sunrise our spot was 2’ deep.
ETA. Then again, it’s been dry as hell, ground is going to soak up a bunch.

That is true. Its just so big different areas hold water deeper than others. Not sure about the zoning and "private land" stuff but as of now everyone is out brushing their blinds. Hoping its not the last season out there.

Watched a video of plenty pintails, GWT and black bellies in freshwater marsh near Klondike, LA. Supposedly filmed last week?
