Shooting your age

A friend of my fathers is 96 and I played with him this summer and he shot 83. Unbelievable.

I'm 50, so I won't be doing that anytime soon.

Supposedly most people who shoot their age do so from ages 76-80; those are doable scores at ages where the body can still swing a club. Most people who have done it were single-digit handicap when young (makes sense). Also, supposedly more scratch-golfers out there than people who have shot their age. I remember all this from an article because it’s a big goal of mine. Not sure my body will stay in shape long enough though.

My grandpa did it every year 70-79. He turned 80 this year and has been battling so much pain in his shoulders I think he only played twice and both times were more so just to indulge me. I think he shot around 88.

Yep twice. 67 followed it with a64 2 days later. Was 68at the time

My son and I saw my dad shoot 80 when he was 80 years old at Abita Springs country club. That was a really cool thing to witness with your son and your dad. Unfortunately, he quit golf soon thereafter because his knee pain got too bad to walk upThe side of the putting green. Seeing your dad quit his favorite game really really made us all very sad.
